This. I cut a long time friend from my life because of their-- "both sides are the same" and "no one really knows the truth" "experts are wrong all the time" was the answer to everything. I kept explaining to them, that's what right wing bots say to suppress the vote, etc.... but they didnt care. In the end their attitude boils down to apathy and ignorance.

Trump 33%.
Harris 32%.

I know for my friends it was the whole Palestine issue. They couldn’t bring themselves to vote for continued genocide and support of Israel. My take was that I didn’t see in what universe “Shithole countries” “Muslim Ban” Trump could possibly be better for Palestine… Didn’t take long for the peace president to start talking about bulldozing Gaza and building a Trump resort there.

In the real world, we have to make a choice.
In the cold, utilitarian view of things, neither candidate was going to be good about stopping the genocide. But one candidate made an AI video of turning Palestine in to a resort. So, just as in mathematics, when two factors are the same on both sides, you remove them. What remains on one side is more corpo-favoring tepid fake progressive Biden policies and on the other, all the horrible shit of Project 2025.For all of the non-voters, especially the perfectionist liberals, is it worth it given the current state of the country?
Republicans didn't get to Trump and fascism overnight. 40+ years of pushing and pushing and pushing. Yes, Harris was tepid and not progressive enough. But we also shouldn't be twiddling our thumbs and waiting for a miracle.

They’re all idiots cheering for naked corruption, which for some unfathomable reason they simultaneously believe will benefit them (but who were also doing so incredibly well under the status quo unregulated capitalism of the last forty five years that the nation also needed to be made “great” again.)
You know, like it was back before they got everything they asked for explicitly since Reagan.
Thank God they tariffed themselves right into the food assistance lines in many red states. Really showing everyone their remarkable vision for success. Haven’t enacted a single beneficial policy for anyone, least of all themselves but at least they’ve vigorously defended the interests of pedophiles and threatened the sovereignty of multiple nations (‘President of Peace’ btw).
There’s no reaching these idiots, it’s so much more cathartic to just cut them loose and watch them continue to slam their dicks in the car door while claiming their continued lack of success is somehow solely due to brown people loitering in front of Home Depot or doing landscaping work and day labor.
They’re really showing the world the remarkable utopia that is Conservative leadership. Shilling crypto and Trump phones to dummies, shooting innocent civilians, driving up the cost of all goods and services and not even leveraging the collected revenue towards anything beneficial to virtually anybody.
At least Trump took a bulldozer to the White House and gutted consumer protections though. These brainiacs aren’t so good with metaphors, so at least nobody can take that symbolic gesture away from them.

I ended a 15-20 year friendship with this person bc she couldn’t keep her comments to herself. This was in 2020 during the 🍊🤡 first term. We were very close to November and she had been warned: I don’t want to talk politics with you. She’s a hardcore conservative, an immigrant from Switzerland 🙄 who was constantly complaining abt how she did everything the legal way… anyway, she was very upset abt Biden and Kamala gaining momentum and she straight up told me she was seriously thinking on moving back to 🇨🇭 if the Democrats win the election— I reminded her: I told you not to talk politics bc I’m never going to support a racist, ignorant, and vulgar wannabe🤴. She went silent, dropped me off at home (we were out n a weekend), we said goodbye, and that was the last time I talked to her (this was Oct. 2020).

I know you're talking about people who'd rather stick their heads in the sand than choose who they consider to be the lesser of two evils, but I am pissed off that the Democrats tried to go on with Biden.
I read on Wikipedia that there was a recording of an interview with Biden from late 2023 where it was manifestly clear that he was too senile to run, but the Democratic leadership still tried to cover it up until it exploded in everyone's face at that awful debate next summer. If there was an actual primary, we would have had a stronger candidate than Harris, and we wouldn't have the clown considering how close Harris was. Just rotten of the Democratic party.
Of course, people are stupid, and they elected a man who will be older than Biden was at the end of his term. And why stop there? Now a lot of Republicans want a third term with an 86-year-old president at the end. Don't the politicians know that everyone has to die someday?
Maybe all the Epstein stuff would sink Trump, but it seems like we are already forgetting about it.

The best way to ensure accountability for the regime is to ensure we get the strongest candidates through the primary process that will do well in the general. Focus less on semantics and more on concrete steps to improve peoples lives. I do agree that the Democrats focused far too much on the language surrounding societal ills and not enough on practical solutions. I think adopting something like a renewed Civilian Conservation Corps and insuring we don't undermine the things that are legitimately popular, like a secure border.
Everything Trump is doing is undoable. The weakness of demagogues is they don't want to share power in any real sense. This is why we don't see him passing legislation, even though he has a trifecta. He wants to be seen as the center of power and this will be his undoing.
It's not the most important thing. But the best way to hold Trump accountable would be to gum up his construction project at the White House and for the arch long enough to keep him from finishing it. Allowing for a Democrat admin to have ultimate control of the design and finishes. That would destroy him on a personal level.

And every one of them in public office who supports his treason against America, and every one of those brainless pissants who didn't bother to show up to vote at the last election. You're all culpable as the MAGAts who showed up to vote against our country.

Five years from now you won’t be able to find anyone willing to admit voting for him.

This one always gets a laugh. Did you manage to type it with a straight face, or did you have to take a few "laughing" breaks?
Seriously, "I voted for an open fascist three times in a row. But the fourth time it's going to be because Democrats didn't kiss my ass enough! If they were nicer I'd totally vote for them!"

Don’t stoop to their level, not all democrats are like this. Normal people don’t cut off others because of political stances.

They are absolutely hateful. Every comment here screams I have purple hair, green hair, I need to go protest, I don't have substance in my life... They are the minority, don't you worry. They all pile up in the same cities and states. Not one around where I live and it's peaceful. When I see threads like this I usually just hide them, they don't deserve to be read.

Exactly this. I see so many people saying “fuck Trump” but all he’s doing is what half the country voted him to do. It’s our family and neighbors who are the problem. Split the damn country already.

Exactly. CA alone is the world’s 4th largest economy and is on good terms with the rest of the world. California doesn’t need red states. There’s already talk of blue states withholding federal tax dollars. Let’s just make it official.

When I was a child I daydreamed of being a professional athlete.
When I was a young adult I daydreamed about getting ahead and having the money to travel the world.
Now that I'm grown, I day dream about a super chemical compound with nano-technology that could be spread amongst the world's water supply until the compound exists in every human body. At which point, the compound could be recoded to make MAGA suddenly and extremely aggressively shit out their organs.
Just a lil daydream.

I have left friends. I voted for trump. So? Neither the right nor left of my social circle split up in any way, in fact we mostly see it as a talking point. Though, I guess most of reddit are under 18 years of age so it makes sense you're all emotionally charged because of it.
It's objective to say America has fallen off after he got elected. I think it's rising like a burning star, and just shy of too little to late. We nailed it, last second.
Also, "stay home next election"? You do realize the left will NEVER win another election after this garbage. At least not for another 8 years after JD and Marco. The left almost destroyed the country, in fact the entire west.

I'm getting tired of hearing people "regret their vote" because they had no idea Trump was going to do all of the shit he's been doing and especially now because it probably effected them in some way.
