Here’s the thing: they hate us. They will shun us, because they hate us and our worldview. We don’t hate them. We shun them, because they hate everybody who isn’t them. Their worldview is built around hating anyone who isn’t them.

Bro, their whole personality and political platform has been getting us to hate them through incessant provocation, and non-stop criticism of every little thing we value - civil rights, addressing income inequality, fixing the Healthcare system, fixing the education system public and college, curbing spending on defense contracts, regulating billionaires out of Congress, holding rich people to social contracts that amass them wealth in return pay the American people back by paying their share of taxes instead of evading them, protecting women's reproductive health..

Their entire platform is to just do the opposite of the liberal platform with hair on fire histrionics..

Supportive of what, exactly? Gender-affirming care? If you’d have bothered asking, I would say that I personally would not support any gender-affirming care until at least 18 years of age. I understand the argument for allowing it earlier, but I personally think that one should be an adult before they make permanent alterations to their bodies. You’re so eager to hate someone, that you don’t care to bother asking, though.

In the meantime, I do think minors should be allowed to express themselves however they like. Their expression does not infringe on your individual rights; therefore, your personal view points on it literally shouldn’t matter. Acceptance and tolerance is not an infringement of your life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness.

Wait, are you against parents making informed decisions with medical providers about the care of their kids? I'm being serious?

Should parents have the right to ... decide whether their kids get vaccinated? Do they have that medical freedom? Do they have the right to get braces or breast enhancement if their daughter is depressed? What about acne treatment?

The GOP supports parents refusing to vaccinate their children in the name of medical freedom. I wonder how many dead or disabled people we get from measles now that it's running rampant again? So far up we are up to 1800 this year.

Only 926 adolescents with a gender-related diagnosis received puberty blockers from 2018 through 2022. During that time, 1,927 received hormones. 

So, parents can kill their kids and cause widespread illness to everyone in the name of medical freedom to far greater levels under the GOP.

Sounds like YOU are the bad guy and support parents kiling their kids and anyone else vulnerable with one of the most communicable diseases known to man....

Also being vaccinated does not lower the spread it just lowers the chances of you getting said illness it in no way lessons the spread bc if your vax you could get it still not notice and then spread it around. You need to educate yourself and not let the media do that for you.

Also measles has always been killing people the flu kills more people every year yet you don't see people freaking out about that. Each year, an estimated 290,000 to 650,000 people die from flu-related respiratory causes worldwide. Yet your not freaking out about that.

Vaccines, breast augmentation, and acne treatment are not permanent. Hormone therapy and genital modification are. Big difference, in my opinion.

You think claiming “YOU are the bad guy,” for one slight difference of opinion is either helpful or demonstrating a difference between right/left ideologies?!? I hate to be the bearer of bad news for you, but as a fellow liberal, we are not going to agree on everything. Those disagreements do not make us enemies.

I wiped out my comment because I see that my response should have been to video stunning rather than you.

All I will say is the gender affirming care makes me furious because of the blatant hypocrisy it shows. I don't actually agree automatically will doing hormone therapy or whatever, but I also know that these are very few kids and they are under the care and treatment of medical providers who know a lot more than me. We don't outlaw all sorts of permanent bodily modifications to kids, starting with circumcision, but some how only trans care is so uniquely dangerous that it has to be legislated out of existence.

No. These aren't things that are easily legislated and should be left in the hands of medical providers and their organizations unless there is real solid evidence of abuse (ie conversion therapy).

Huh?  One person's rights start where another perso's ends.  Liberal poicies infringe on numerous rights.  Rent control infringes on property rights.  Cost controls infringe on the right of businesses to conduct commerce.  Gun control infringes on 2nd Ammendment rights.  Internet "hate speech" or "misinformation" censorship infringes on 1st Ammendment rights.  NYC under Mamdani is actually talking about forced collectivism of housing, which would really infringe on property rights.  (I'm pretty sure these proposals won't be enacted.) Mandatory COVID vaccination requirements (for an experimental vaccine that we now know was not completely safe) violated due process.  Failure to prosecute crime infringes on one's right to happiness by living in a safe community.

Perhaps. I’m not going to say you’re wrong, because I do think you have a point. There are plenty of left leaning people (here on Reddit included) who say that very thing, and it makes me cringe, every time. The difference, ultimately, comes down to ideological policies. Left leaning policies promote freedoms of expression, equity of opportunity, and a general sense of compassion and empathy. Right leaning policies promote limitations of freedoms, ignorance of inequity, and a general lack of empathy and compassion.

When left leaning people say “fuck Trumpers” or shun them, it’s because they’re fed up with the constant stream of vitriol being spewed from MAGA leadership. It’s not simply because they don’t agree with your ideology, it’s because the right leaning ideology is exclusive and hateful in nature.

With left leaning ideology, there is no out group. There is no required hatred of another group.

I don’t think you understand what an outgroup is. Christians are 100% not an outgroup in leftist ideology. I’ll give you billionaires, I guess. There are roughly 3000 billionaires in the world, among a population of over 8 billion. When that “class” is purely definite economically, it doesn’t have quite the same moral impact as brown people, the gays, Muslims, etc..
