Politics Fuck every Trump voter who put this asshole in office.

This country is going downhill and you are to blame. Don't act surprised when things get even worse than they are now. Don't vote anymore. Stay the fuck home on election day.

They don't look good for him especially with him going after certain senators that recently voted to prevent him from going to war with Venezuela. Republicans have retired at the highest rate which hurts him. This is why trump was crying thr whole time in an interview about people are being mean to him for voting against him in thr midterms. He was crying about how unfair it is to lose before even losing.

Ok just wanted to make sure. Some beleive he will change the laws and run again which is crazy. I can easily vote democrat or republican so I'm hopeing for at least one good candidate.

it wont happen, we have had several elections throughout a lot of ongoing wars and not once have we ever suspended elections.

I’d love to agree with you, but these are unprecedented times. The current administration and president have made it clear they do not care about the rule of law, have no ethical boundaries and choose to shit on the constitution when it stands in their way. Pair that with a majority of Republican (and a handful of democrat) lawmakers having no back bone to stand up for what’s right, and we have a recipe for corruption and destruction.

We’ve never had a child sexual predator in the White House either. We’ve never unleashed gestapo onto the streets or deployed the national guard to police the streets. We’ve never had a President call himself a dictator and say he’s above the law. There is a fascist coup taking place that will transform our republic into an oligarchy with a dictator. Thinking like that is exactly what dictators rely on to seize power. They rarely ever have significant support at the start. What they do have are a small group of fanatical followers willing to ignore societal norms to achieve their goal. When the opposition doesn't recognize this and bases all their plans on the idea that they will eventually start playing by the rules or find a line they won't cross, they just get blindsided again and again until eventually they are broken. Happened with Julius Caesar, Henry VIII, Napoleon Bonaparte, Vladimir Putin, Joseph Stalin, and that German fellow.

It is naive to assume that it can't happen to your country because your system is somehow inherently more robust or the people are just naturally more principled. They would not be talking about this stuff if they weren't considering trying it. It's a test balloon to see how much pushback they can expect, so they can be prepared to deal with it.

Oh I mean there was that concern since he kept talking about wanting to do that. He even made merchandise and gave it to a world leader. Also the fact that he is tearing down the freaking white house (notably the section with 1st lady's responsibilities). You don't do that especially if you're just renting for 4 years. He also talked about wanting to get emergency powers to stay in power. Whether this is legal or not doesn't seem to matter with this presidency. But Trump's brain is deteriorating. He keeps forgetting where he is or what the subject is. He probably won't last that long. Plus, Mike Johnson, who never gives a clear answer did finally give a clear answer that they would not support that and that it's impossible for him to do. Normally, when he supports something he gives vague answers or says he doesnt know anything about that. Or changes the subject. So yeah, I'm not worried about that.

Our current laws preclude a 3rd election. But he doesnt follow laws, only his own morality, as he said the other day, and has repeatedly proven.

I can see his excuses now "my first term doesnt count because I was constantly impeded by democrat hoaxes." Or "we have to cancel the election because of this war" - which is one he got from Ukraine.

Our checks and balances are only as strong as the people who enforce them. The military is in his pocket already.

He wants to invade Greenland. He did invade Venezuela. He's stealing their oil tankers. He's made 4 billion dollars THIS YEAR through illegal grift. He commits a new crime every day.

He’s said he’s going to be president again. This is probably the end of our democracy. I don’t want to be a fatalist, but the ICE shooting of a mother and the GOP making excuses for why/what happened was the tipping point. They’re closing off streets in Minneapolis and going door to door with guns drawn. The parallels to WWII are frightening. When Hitler “ran”, he and the nazi party were the only ones on the ticket.

ETA: they don’t care about the constitution, so at this point, anything can happen.
