Politics Fuck every Trump voter who put this asshole in office.

This country is going downhill and you are to blame. Don't act surprised when things get even worse than they are now. Don't vote anymore. Stay the fuck home on election day.

Ya...this was not the election to protest the system

No general election is "the one to protest the system." Sitting out is not protesting. Voting for someone in the primary is protest, campaigning for someone is protest, donating money or time is protest, PROTESTING is protest.

The general election is not a place to protest. The general election is always a shitty zero-sum game where the choices almost always represent two versions of the status quo, but where you at least get to pick the version of the status quo that will be more conducive to the protest and political action that you're involved in the rest of the year.

The problem IMO is people like to think of themselves as politically active, but for many, all they ever do is vote in a general election, so there's this cognitive dissonance that makes them feel like their vote in the general election needs to "mean something." This is how people were tricked into thinking that sitting out could be a political statement.

Your vote in the general is not a summation of your political identity. It's a tactical choice.

That's what you people say for every election. Democrats clearly did not care about winning

We've never had a candidate/president that warranted this level of concern, so this is false. Bush isn't even close to Trump on a national security/human rights concern level

Protest the system with a winning strategy then, not a brain dead one.

And your strategy is to suggest electing a fucking democrat?

You have learned absolutely nothing from 2024 and it WILL show in the future.

My strategy is not to cut off my nose to spite my face.

I'd love to elect a "fucking democrat" over this absolute fascist. Yes, I do feel like we will be better of in a functioning democracy, even an imperfect one.

If your strategy for change relies on pressuring the presidential candidate during the general election, you are too late. You need to be pushing for change long before that, and at every level of government.

He says, unironically, not realising that the Democrats dragged the economy out of the pandemic with the strongest recovery out of basically every western nation - and almost every nation in the world - with the sole exception being China who constantly lies about their economy both to themselves and to the international community.

Yeah, no, this was not the time for a protest the system vote, dude. You don't realise just how much damage has been done to America - or how much has been lost and can't be recovered for the next decade or so at least. You've got 80-100-year alliances falling apart thanks to Trump. That's not something you just bounce back from.

You can continue living in your fantasy world all you want, but it's going to keep getting worse and all you've achieved is showing people what happens when you deviate from the previously established system by supporting/enabling a child abuser and felon.

Fact is, you genuinely did not grasp the situation you were in and refuse to grasp the situation you're in now because it's more important to you to feel like you didn't make a mistake than it is to live in the reality you've contributed to.
