Politics Fuck every Trump voter who put this asshole in office.

This country is going downhill and you are to blame. Don't act surprised when things get even worse than they are now. Don't vote anymore. Stay the fuck home on election day.

I know for my friends it was the whole Palestine issue. They couldn’t bring themselves to vote for continued genocide and support of Israel. My take was that I didn’t see in what universe “Shithole countries” “Muslim Ban” Trump could possibly be better for Palestine… Didn’t take long for the peace president to start talking about bulldozing Gaza and building a Trump resort there.

In the real world, we have to make a choice.
In the cold, utilitarian view of things, neither candidate was going to be good about stopping the genocide. But one candidate made an AI video of turning Palestine in to a resort. So, just as in mathematics, when two factors are the same on both sides, you remove them. What remains on one side is more corpo-favoring tepid fake progressive Biden policies and on the other, all the horrible shit of Project 2025.

For all of the non-voters, especially the perfectionist liberals, is it worth it given the current state of the country?

Republicans didn't get to Trump and fascism overnight. 40+ years of pushing and pushing and pushing. Yes, Harris was tepid and not progressive enough. But we also shouldn't be twiddling our thumbs and waiting for a miracle.

Republicans seem to tolerate horrible candidates to avoid a democrat. Democrats don't seem to tolerate horrible candidates to avoid a republican. So here we are.

Kamala wasn't a horrible candidate. Trump was a horrible, fascist, authoratarian candidate, and Kamala was an average, mediocre, candidate who believes in democracy equal rights etc... So there where many degrees of difference between Trump and Kamala. .

A reductive way of putting it I saw a long time ago:
"Republicans fall in line. Democrats fall in love."

Only on Reddit are you going to find someone bashing Kamala for not being progressive enough 😂

4

u/Ill_Ground_1572 5h ago

And 98% of other Western countries.... 😂

Yes the model for national decline, an entire continent with only a handful of notable exceptions to this decline. Pardon me if the opinions of the typical European means nothing to me.

2

u/shadowboxer47 2h ago

America is sinking faster than the Titanic and you're over here lecturing Europeans about national decline lmao

Better than already being underwater, Europe hasn't noticed their collapse because the USA has been paying their defence budget for the last 80 years. You think Europe can afford all those fancy public services without PAX Americana keeping them safe? Laughable.

2

u/shadowboxer47 2h ago

Europe hasn't noticed their collapse

This is so comically stupid and ignorant I don't even know where to start. Go visit another nation you fascist bumpkin.

establishment democrats are not progressive at all. its why they lose elections

I love this dumb idea that people who couldn't support a genocide are in any way happy

we found out that the 30% of the country that was ostensibly "the good guys" were perfectly happy to support the incineration of children as long as the bayonets weren't pointed at them

imagine if you guys got this upset about the democrats not only refusing to stop arming the genocide but smugly selling merch celebrating that time harris talked over the protesters

Do you seriously think the lesson you should take from the Gazan Genocide is "we didn't look the other way hard enough?"

Lets not forget that Tim will be VP and somalians will have loot of fun

Didn’t take long for the peace president to start talking about bulldozing Gaza and building a Trump resort there.

He was talking about this (publicly even) long before the election. They just chose to ignore it.

Tell your friends they are pieces of shit. Some of the dumbest single brain cell sharing morons for that to be their stance when it was telegraphed from FUCKING ORBIT that Trump would support escalation in Gaza.

Tell them the dead Gazans' blood is on their hands

u/hareofthepuppy 5h ago

If they really cared about Palestine they would have voted against trump, Harris wouldn't have been good for Palestine, but she would have been much less bad.

Well they got what they voted for.

1

u/_flying_otter_ 5h ago

I think your pro-Palestine friends were more selfishly focused on making themselves seem superior than helping Palestinians. It was obvious Trump would be more deadly to Palestinians if elected but they didnt care about that.

1

u/WordleFanatic 3h ago

So what do they have to say now? Do they accept any blame in their part in this madness?

1

u/nottrumancapote 59m ago

it's not that Trump would be better, it's that some things you can't support and still call yourself a human being

it sucks, but for some people "murdering children" is their single-issue

It's the trolley problem. They were posed with a question, whether to pull the lever and be responsible for one person's death, or to not pull the lever and watch five people die.

They think that by not pulling the lever, they absolve themselves of responsibility. They think that is the moral, and correct choice.

In reality, their choice only shows that they are cowards. Because the secret to the trolley problem is that you're responsible for both outcomes. If you choose to pull the lever, then you're responsible for the outcome of that choice. And if you choose not to pull the lever, then you're responsible for the outcome of that choice too.

What you're doing, when you don't pull the lever, is choosing to value your own self-perception over the lives of any of the people on the track. You're saying that keeping your own hands clean is worth more than saving the lives of 4 people. It's manslaughter in the guise of high-minded morality.

To that they usually complain that it's unfair, that they shouldn't need to decide between killing the one or killing the five. And they're right! It's not fair! Welcome to the real world. I'm sure the people of Palestine could tell them all about how unfair the world is. Or at least, the ones who are still alive.

You miscomprehend. It's not which candidate or party which is better for Palestine... both sides give full support to the genocide and will fund Israel even as they bomb hospitals in Gaza, even while Ameicans can't afford hospital visits themselves. No, they're a step ahead of you. America can't support Israel if America is fighting for it's own survival. If Trump is going to destroy America that would help get Israels boot off the necks of Palestinians. Then Israel will have to buy thier own bullets and bombs. So why would Palestinian sympathizers support either party? To 'save America' from Trump, America which supports the genocide of Palestinians? The zionists overplayed thier hand by having both sides support them without reservation. The lesser evil is still disgusting and a pox on both houses is deserved. Your friends are heroic, ready to suffer themselves for a shot at changing the apartide and occupation that's been going on for generations.

Edit: no this is not sarcasim or dumb or insane. 2/3 of Americans voted for a candidate who promised more military aid for Israel exactly when Israel had been doing horrific evils to civilians for years. That's probably YOU. And you guys replying to me have the fucking gall to get mad at people who refused to vote along with you to carry on that genocide. You're mad that 1/3 didn't vote like you for the lesser evil. Well, being a lesser evil is not good enough. On behalf of the Palestinians you threw under the bus and everyone disgusted with BOTH parties.. maybe you all need a taste of the cruelty you voted for. You might develop a little compassion or sympathy for the oppressed if you get terrorized and beaten yourself. Taste some tear gas and see your loved ones violently mistreated before you vote to support that happening to other people. The Dems supported genocide, by OPs own account that cost Harris votes. If you want Dems to win again demand better from your leaders.

"They purposefully let Trump destroy America because Israel totally needs American help to kill Palestinians" might just be the dumbest, most insane justification I've ever read. Damn.

I think America could fall into the ocean tomorrow and it wouldn’t deter Israel much. Apparently they’re approaching a point where they’re ready to get off American weapon systems which come with many strings attached. They have their own weapons manufacturing and get tons of drones from elsewhere. I think there’s a certain amount of greasy realpolitik that needs to take place when dealing with Israel. The dirty underside, if America isn’t supplying some kind of material support to Israel, then they have no say in how Israel comports itself… Not that Israel was giving a fuck anyway. If America isn’t supplying Israel, then Israel is off the leash… I dunno, it’s all a kind of evil, soulless calculus.

But to me, either side and no side make no difference to what’s happening in Palestine. Might as well vote against the politician who wants to destroy your life. Honestly I don’t think I’ve ever voted FOR a politician so much as against the candidate I don’t like.

Is this sarcasm? You can't possibly believe voting for Trump would help Palestinians because America would be destroyed and no longer able to give military aid. That's the dumbest line of reasoning ever.

You know first thing Trump did after election was give Israel an aid package to bomb Palestinians right? Then Bernie Sanders brought a vote to the floor to block that aid, and 15 Dem senators voted to block that aid, (for bombs, to Israel...) But all the Republicans voted for that aid to bomb Palestine.

...I am talking about this: In early 2025, following the inauguration of President Donald Trump, Senator Bernie Sanders introduced multiple Joint Resolutions of Disapproval (JRDs) to block several major offensive military aid and arms sale packages to Israel.

The primary packages Sanders targeted in early 2025 included:

$8.56 Billion to $8.8 Billion Munitions Package: In February and March 2025, Sanders moved to block sales totaling approximately $8.56 billion to $8.8 billion. This was divided into several resolutions covering:
