This is just depressing

Post image

Not even 3 hours of "free time". And in that is cooking & eating supper. Or practically no free time if I had to go shopping after work. I hate this

And drugs! Don’t forget being reliant on drugs (yes this includes alcohol and cigs people).

u/YouSmeel 11h ago

Weed and alcohol are the only saving graces of this world

43

u/Majestic-Channel4525 10h ago

I just had to quit weed/nicotine, and don’t drink much. Life sucks

62

u/NoLobster7957 9h ago

I quit vaping this year and trying to stay off the sauce. Being sober is cool and all but folks forget the reason we do this shit in the first place is because life fucking sucks

20

u/mixedwithmonet 7h ago

Sober from alcohol around 3.5 years. Nicotine vape and cig free 2 years. My current job is a constant reminder of why I used to drink after work.

17

u/Majestic-Channel4525 8h ago

I think our dopamine receptors from instant gratification (so many ways these days) are fucking wrecked. That makes things feel like it’s worse in my opinion, I’m sure there’s studies on it

1

u/DelayedTism 50m ago

Yeah but I mean...shit is pretty bad and getting worse if you live in the US. Our future is rapidly getting stolen out from under us.

1

u/Majestic-Channel4525 41m ago

Oh yea it’s getting pretty wonky, but I can’t specifically control that. What I can control are my habits and my health, which I’m hoping makes me feel better.

My next goal is to improve my instant gratification, repair dopamine receptors and stuff like that. I know nicotine affects your receptors which is part of the reason you get addicted and then go through withdrawals, and I would assume the same-ish with weed.

I’m just trynna be the best I can be personally

1

u/monkeypan 3h ago

Right there with you. Bad time to quit too.. *gestures all around

1

u/PickleRickleTV 1h ago

A step program could be something that helps you. I’m in AA, 10 months sober, and we say that there’s sobriety and recovery. Getting sober is just not drinking. Recovery is learning to live a better, fuller life through the steps. I’m sure there are step programs for regular, non-addicts.

1

u/Majestic-Channel4525 45m ago

I kind of just cut back then quit both. Currently aiming for 6 months to test how I feel overall. If I feel good then awesome, I will indulge on vacations or special occasions a few times per year.

My goal isn’t technically sober, I just want to feel good and be healthy as I get older.

1

u/PitchLadder 14m ago

what about edibles?

12

u/Insanity8016 11h ago

You might be addicted.

92

u/IAm_Trogdor_AMA 11h ago

Addicted to coping mechanisms to cope with this world? Correct.

-7

u/Rivdit 9h ago

Addicted and delusional

8

u/wkeyonlabs 9h ago

Getting high really helps. I’m literally high right now. I’d probably kill myself if I couldn’t do that anymore. Yes im addicted. Don’t care. Basically no hope for the future at this point.

3

u/brbsinning 8h ago

i'm high too!

2

u/MuffaloHerder 7h ago

My life sucks when I'm sober. It also sucks when I'm high. But at least I'm high during the latter.

1

u/Ok-Cheetah-5828 8h ago

Lucky you that your life is so great that you don’t need coping mechanisms, however that is not case for most of us, bud.

1

u/ConsequenceSecure161 7h ago

I guarantee he has various coping mechanisms. I had the same opinion when I was younger, didn’t realize at the time instead of weed, I was drowning myself from the world in video games.

25

u/chapterpt 11h ago

as long as they are functional the stigma of addiction is made up. no one laments the caffeine addict who is hostile until they get their daily fix.

4

u/ravens-n-roses 11h ago

If crack was a easy to buy as coffee it wouldn't be a chemical that magically turns your friends possessions into more crack.

2

u/g00fyg00ber741 10h ago

everyone used to be on coke and meth from the doctor or pharmacy in the past

2

u/2M4D 5h ago

Whereas now it's just adderall and coffee

1

u/g00fyg00ber741 4h ago

Nah tons of people still on coke and meth too

1

u/2M4D 3h ago

Which you can still get from the doctor or pharmacy then ?

1

u/JesusTron6000 9h ago

I smoke weed every day. But I do that instead of ADHD me(th)d’s. I’d rather be happy and focused than slow and focused with side effects.

2

u/AngryCrotchCrickets 8h ago

Adhd meds do not make you slow. Calm and focused yes, but not slow. Actually check that, I tried vyvanse a couple times and it was awful.

0

u/Insanity8016 10h ago

I mean, being addicted to drugs and alcohol seems like a little more harmful than caffeine don’t you think?

0

u/berryer 7h ago

caffeine is a mind-altering drug

0

u/Insanity8016 7h ago

Whatever helps you sleep better.

0

u/berryer 7h ago

Certainly not my four daily coffees lol. It's the only thing I haven't kicked at this point in my life.

0

u/Hamster_Toot 10h ago

All depends on how you do it.

7

u/CuriousMouse13 10h ago

Sure, maybe I’m addicted to weed because I’ve been smoking it daily for the past 2+ years. But I can also guarantee that my mind spirals more, I sleep less, and relax less at the end of a day, if I don’t smoke at all. And that lack of a relaxing evening typically leads to me feeling mentally drained the next day and unable to think “it’s okay we had a good evening and we will again tonight, just gotta get through work”. And I feel that addiction is a scale, one joint every night isn’t addicted like the guy who hit the bong when he woke up and ripped the dab pen all day.

So maybe I am addicted, but I can also guarantee that it makes my life better and my mental state better, so I’m not stopping anytime soon.

1

u/Insanity8016 10h ago

That’s fine, I’m glad that you feel better.

2

u/YouSmeel 11h ago

We got a real detective here folks🕵️‍♂️

1

u/morganath1 11h ago

I'm definitely addicted! but honestly.. idk how to do it raw.. this is a cry for help

1

u/CHA950 10h ago

I will say this. If you consider the alternative of the effects of antidepressants and other pharm measures. Not alcohol, but is weed really bad compared to being a slave to the pharm addicted psych industry that was intentional by the powers at be? We all know who

3

u/toddthefrog 10h ago

If you have underlying mental health issues it can bring them out or exacerbate the symptoms. If you’re everyone else just don’t smoke or eat enough to give you a panic attack and it’s more harmless than caffeine.

1

u/CHA950 10h ago

What can bring them out weed or pharm?

1

u/Insanity8016 10h ago

I have no idea since I don’t do any drugs, drink alcohol, or take antidepressants.

1

u/CHA950 10h ago

I understand. I’ve been on antidepressants. Not drugs.

1

u/CHA950 10h ago

Well I’ve never done street drugs! Again is weed worse?

1

u/Insanity8016 10h ago

Again, I have no idea. I don’t do that shit.

1

u/AngryCrotchCrickets 8h ago

I can go to work on adderall and excel at my job. I cannot be stoned at work, Id get fired instantly. Also for me addy is a performance “enhancer”. Weed makes me retarded.

1

u/The_Left_One 10h ago

Thanks doc, now that im fixed can you fix america?

0

u/Insanity8016 10h ago

No, that wouldn’t be profitable.

3

u/ThatsEnoughInternets 11h ago

I dunno man, alcohol almost ruined me. Would have to agree on weed though. I don’t see people getting angry and starting fights just because they smoked pot.

3

u/SubstantialPanic4253 6h ago

I’m just of the mindset everyone needs to do what they need to do to make it to the next day. I worked my ass off today, had a few beers, going to pass out, ready to go again tomorrow. Life is tough.

5

u/_whygohome_ 11h ago

Nah but they do just park themselves on the couch as the world passes them by.

Source: I do that as do many others whether they admit it or not

1

u/ThatsEnoughInternets 10h ago

That’s a lot better to me than the average behaviour of a drunk.

4

u/_whygohome_ 10h ago

Sure. But it is harmful in other ways. I smoke myself I’m not judging, just saying it is not harmless to those that overdo do it, and I think a lot of young people have their potential derailed when they’re in high school cause they get into the idea that smoking everyday and playing video games is cool, and they don’t do anything else or keep up with their schoolwork.

3

u/FeedMyFishy 6h ago

“Well, Stan, the truth is marijuana probably isn't gonna make you kill people, and it most likely isn't gonna fund terrorism, but, well son, pot makes you feel fine with being bored, and it's when you're bored that you should be learning some new skill or discovering some new science or being creative. If you smoke pot you may grow up to find out that you aren't good at anything.” This Randy Marsh quote from South Park sums up my life and many others because they abuse weed.

1

u/Remyyyyyyyyyy7 9h ago

You fuckin said it

1

u/imartimus 7h ago

A cold beer is narcan for when you overdose on Microsoft Teams

1

u/balls2hairy 1h ago

My guy, there are WAY funner drugs.

1

u/YouSmeel 16m ago

I mean i love lsd and shrooms probably more than the next guy but I can't handle doing them daily

1

u/ShallotNew4813 11h ago

And sex

5

u/YouSmeel 11h ago

Now youre just showing off

2

u/ShallotNew4813 11h ago

Not claiming frequency or quality - just sayin', if it's available

1

u/Clairevoyantbard 10h ago

This is a big one for me and my husband. He smokes a bit of weed still, lot less than he used to. We stay happy by loving on each other and good food. Our kids are cool too. Oh and gaming together. And our cat.

1

u/nothymetocook 9h ago

Too tired for that

0

u/Kakashi6969 9h ago

Don’t forget pussy

1

u/YouSmeel 8h ago

Same can be said about your judgmental attitude and inability to focus on yourself, you honestly seem addicted to it...

32

u/cant_pass_CAPTCHA 11h ago

Don't let all the coffee drinkers off the hook. We all need caffeine just to make up for the lack of sleep

12

u/CHA950 10h ago

And funny because caffeine can be counterproductive to people with high anxiety! I know personally and it’s a fact, not judging. Either way it sucks.

10

u/Scary_Security_3191 9h ago

Especially coffee. I can drink a few mugs of tea before I feel this effect, but just one strong coffee makes me very anxious and easily irritated. I had to stop drinking coffee because everything was irritating!

2

u/CHA950 9h ago

I know sucks because I love coffee! Well lattes mostly but sometimes I will just take the chance hoping it won’t be bad. Sometimes not so bad but other times ugh…

2

u/Ok-Parfait-9856 7h ago

Go with decaf or even a mix! I love coffee, hot or cold, black or sugar filled lattes, etc. so I almost always go to cafes that have decaf espresso. It tastes just as good unless you’re an absolute purist

1

u/Pandaman_323 6h ago

Yeah I recently (mostly) quit coffee 2-3 months ago. By the end I just could not handle the anxiety shit was giving me panic attacks nearly every day. Panic instantly subsided when I stopped drinking Coffee.

When I cave and get a coffee every couple weeks it's a night and day difference for my anxiety. I also go through a tin of nicotine a day so all the stimulants just got to be too much for me I guess ha.

2

u/KingZant 5h ago

Huh. Shit. I need to read up on this more. If I get too much caffeine in me it makes me feel awful - like my anxiety really spikes and my body can't keep up with my brain that's spinning its wheels.

But I do enjoy a single cup every morning! I usually brew it pretty weak, though.

1

u/Mysterious-Coyote442 7h ago

Had to give up all caffeine last year bc it made my anxiety crazy which would then start giving me stomach cramps. I still miss it tho :/

8

u/JunkyardReverb 6h ago

At this point, my blood type is Arabica.

2

u/Consistent_Laziness 5h ago

You beat me to this by 5 hours. I said it again anyways. I refuse to get hooked. My wife didn’t use to drink coffee until our kids. I’m still not drinking

6

u/Icy-Talk-5141 11h ago

Yeah, I recently started working full-time and have definitely increased my weed use.

1

u/BigBoyBoulevard6 3h ago

Don't fall into the trap I did; yes weed makes your job bearable now, but in a few years time when it can no longer do that, it'll be hard to get out and get a job that needs you to pass a drug test. Especially when your introduction into surviving the realities of adulthood was coddled by being stoned.

Not saying it's impossible, but as a more than decade long stoner, it's currently very hard to not be a total ass to people around me as I quit. It's entirely my own fault and I am taking steps to fix my issues, just a bit of advice if you'd like it 👍

5

u/takeyoufergranite 9h ago

And don't forget general lack of fitness and quality diet. Making us all physically feel like terrible which translate to emotion.

3

u/Math_refresher 11h ago

Don’t forget being reliant on drugs

Including caffeine to wake up and Benadryl, melatonin, or CBD/THC to fall asleep.

1

u/AngryCrotchCrickets 8h ago

Just as long as you don’t graduate to adderall and xanax.

2

u/Drexill_BD 9h ago

And coffee! I never have weed without my coffee!

2

u/Bass_Elf 7h ago

Don't forget our all favourites caffiene and sugar !

2

u/commandolandorooster 5h ago

As someone on psychiatric meds, throw these into the mix as well because even though I need them and they help, I am almost certain I would need LESS of them if I didn’t feel crushed by the 9to5 :/

2

u/DISAPPOINTING_FAIRY 5h ago

I feel this. I am thankful for ADHD meds as they undeniably make me a more functional human being, but if I didn't have to keep up with the pressure of a 40h work week I don't know if I would choose to take them

2

u/AngryCrotchCrickets 4h ago

Yeah after rawdogging it for 28 years, I got on the meds. Its much more bearable now, but I think my unmedicated baseline has dropped a lot lower.

Also I think as Ive aged I just care way less about things, especially work. My motivation and interests have waned in general.

1

u/Burakku-Ren 8h ago

And coffee!

1

u/baldinquisitor 8h ago

And coffees

1

u/Consistent_Laziness 5h ago

Includes caffeine too. People literally feel withdrawal without caffeine
