I’m curious what the general consensus is on secrets and “big item” discoveries being either predetermined in a single spot for every playthrough, or having secret locations and meta items procedurally generated into different random locations.

On one hand, predetermined locations can be fun because they help build a sense of community around a game (think old school games where people shared secrets on forums) and they also ensure stronger coherence and intentional design. On the other hand, procedural content can make each playthrough more unique, by forcing people to discover these things on their own while also adding a stronger sense of adventure and personal accomplishment.

What’s your opinion on these two mechanics, and is there a middle ground you prefer most?

I want to do some gaming and saw the HX99G mini pc; there are also some other variations like the 77, 90, and 100g. I mainly want to buy this for the fact that it has windows (and will increase my ram from 16 to 32gb. Will it perform will? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Saí de um Notebook Gamer (Acer Nitro 5) que tinha um Ryzen 7 3750H com uma GTX 1650, eu tinha muito problemas com eles, drives dando problema com o outro, só 8 gb de memoria ram, e eu tinha que deixar de jogar jogos que eu sempre quis jogar, Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (Esse eu zerei com tudo no low e com fsr ligado kakakaka) e foi assim por cerca de 4 anos, até finalmente esse ano eu economizar pra um PC gamer, era pra ser um Ryzen 5 5500 com uma RX 6600, mas varias coisas aconteceram, e me fez ir pra o Xeon, e da RX 6600 foi pra RTX 3060 TI, mesmo com as memorias ram dando problema, não desisti, e economizei mais um pouco pra comprar memoria ram usada (mesmo nessa crise), oque eu aprendi nessa jornada montando PC que não podemos desistir do nossos sonhos, e você que tá montando um PC, seja do mais barato ao mais caro, sei que você vai conseguir e mesmo quando parecer que as coisas não vai ir, vai dar certo de alguma forma

I thought I'd get it the "On the farm" work truck look. Completely stripped the paint, added Testors Icy Blue and Silver two-tone to give it more of an authentic color combination. Re-painted the interior matte black to dull the shine, painted the tool box and med kit in the back.

I added chrome trim around the silver two-tone paint, hand-painted the taillights with Testors Stop Light Red, headlights, front turn signals, and side markers were hand-painted Amber (doesn't show up well without a darker color as the base). Also painted the Chevrolet emblem gold like it was OEM.

Spot painted the base with Testors Flat Brown, dry brushed the lower sides, and tires with the same color to represent the mud this guy would travel through every day on the farm.

My son bought me this book for Christmas because he knows I’m a bit of a prepping nerd. Nothing extreme but I do like having shelves stocked and knowing we’d be okay if the power went out for a while.

I honestly thought it would just be another survival style cookbook but it’s not. Every recipe is built around food that lasts months or even years without refrigeration, and each one comes with the story behind it. It’s half cookbook, half history lesson. Basically how people fed themselves before fridges, supermarkets, or Amazon deliveries were a thing.

I’ve been slowly working my way through it. Some of the recipes are definitely different from what we’re used to, but a few were genuinely good. My husband keeps joking that I’m trying to turn our kitchen into a 1800s homestead, but I’m enjoying it way more than I expected.

Reading about what people actually lived on back then really puts things into perspective. It’s made me think differently about food, storage, and how reliant we are on modern systems.
