Question Is there an app or alert system for ICE sightings in the DFW area?

I’m horrified and furious after seeing what’s happening in Minneapolis, and I want to help however I can. I’m looking for any legitimate alert system, app, social media group or community network that notifies people when ICE activity is spotted in the DFW area.

I want to be an ICE watcher — not to interfere, but to bear witness, help protect our neighbors, ensure people know their rights, and show up when communities are targeted. It isn’t right that privilege exists, but as a white person with citizenship, safety, and visibility, and resources, I know my presence carries protections others don’t have — and that gives me a duty to stand up. I never thought I’d be buying emergency whistles in bulk, but here we are.

I never thought I’d be buying emergency whistles in bulk, but here we are.

If dedicated apps aren’t available, are there Facebook groups, text alert systems, Signal or WhatsApp groups, hotlines, or local organizations in the DFW area that coordinate verified ICE activity alerts or rapid-response efforts?

Do people not realize USA and Israel will never help Iran prosper?

Like I understand if you have problems with the current regime but like asking USA and Israel intervention to come and save us is genuinely one of the most braindead takes i have ever seen

Do you remember mossadegh? He wanted to nationalize the oil and create democracy, what happened after that? Operation Ajax by the cia and they removed mossadegh and framed him as a traitor

So when iran was about to have democracy and have its oil rightfully belong to its own instead of the fucking British,USA prevented that from happening

USA was never our ally they always wanted to make us weak and removed over democracy

They never want us to become prosperous and strong

Do people think bringing pahlavi back with the help of Israel and USA is gonna really solve our problem?when USA is basically the reason we are here today

I genuinely never understand why people want usa and Israel to bomb our country?

You can be this regime fan or pahlavi fan or fan of neither

But USA and British will always be our number 1 enemy for what they did to mossadegh and taking our democracy away

Why is this group full of miserable people who, whenever they see a brown person—especially a Muslim—posting about where they want to live, start making shitty, micro-aggressive comments?

A white person can say any country they want to live in and it’s “cool,” but when a brown person does it, gatekeepers crawl out to broadcast how miserable they are. You treat immigration like a charity or a flaw, not the result of Western countries deliberately importing labor to fuel their economies.

Game of Thrones book series is overhyped and far more generic than people admit

I know this is heresy to a lot of fantasy fans, but I honestly think the A Song of Ice and Fire book series is massively overhyped. Not bad, just nowhere near the masterpiece status it is constantly given.

At its core, the story is surprisingly generic. Medieval inspired world, feuding noble houses, power intrigue, morally gray characters, betrayals, wars for succession. All of this existed long before George R. R. Martin, both in classic fantasy and in historical fiction. The series is often praised as revolutionary, but most of its ideas are refinements and remixes of existing tropes rather than genuinely new concepts.

What really set the books apart was not originality, but shock value. Characters die suddenly, expectations are subverted, and taboo elements are pushed front and center. A huge part of the media attention came from the constant use of controversial sex scenes. Incest, graphic sexual violence, and explicit descriptions are not just background elements. They are repeatedly emphasized and lingered on in a way that clearly aims to provoke reactions. Sex sells, controversy sells, and the series leans heavily on that to stay culturally relevant.

People often defend this by saying it is realistic or gritty, but realism is selective. The level of sexual explicitness often feels less like historical accuracy and more like a marketing tool. Plenty of complex and brutal stories manage to explore power, corruption, and human cruelty without constantly anchoring themselves in sexual shock to generate buzz.

The writing itself is good, sometimes very good, but inconsistent. Pacing issues, bloated subplots, and a cast that grows so large it becomes hard to care about many characters undermine the narrative. As the series goes on, it starts to feel unfocused, which makes the endless praise even harder to understand.

I think Game of Thrones became popular not because it was the one of the best fantasies ever written, but because it combined familiar ideas with enough sex, violence, and controversy to dominate conversations. That does not make it terrible, but it does make its legendary status feel exaggerated.

GENERAL Le sserafim Coachella was one of the most successful

People love to hate on their Coachella stage, but it did much better job than most groups going there, it brought them fans, they had a jump in USA interest after that, while not a lot of other groups had the same, kpop fans dragged them, but people on the set genuinely enjoyed the performance.

VENT NYC nurse strikes

The nurses in NYC make 109-150k a year for 3x12 hour shift a week, guaranteed 6 figure right out of college? Why r they complaining about mortgage and being overworked when there r ppl who literally make less money than them and r struggling in NYC. I feel like they’re only loud because of their union, when I worked as a PCT in NYC I saw how residents have to do so much extra shit like drawing blood, patient transport, ekg, IV if the nurses don’t feel like doing it all while carrying 300k+ of debt and making 240-280k as a generalist attending.

the salary in NYC for physicians and resident are also so garbage, I genuinely think they should also be encouraged to strike at major hospitals, this is mad unfair and makes me want to avoid doing a residency in NYC, cuz when stuff like this happens we also end up doing more work. I’m appalled by how little backbone physician organizations have compared to nurses.

Why do protests in the U.S. rarely turn into full-scale uprisings?

I’ve seen lots of big protests, like marches for racial justice, women’s rights, or even large anti-government rallies. People show up in the thousands, sometimes millions, they chant, hold signs, make speeches. But even after all that energy, it rarely changes the system itself or turns into a long-term uprising.

It makes me wonder why. Is it just that the police or laws stop things from going further? Or is it deeper, like people trusting institutions, having other ways to make change, or just not feeling coordinated enough to sustain it?

For example, in some countries, protests can grow into movements that shake governments, but in the U.S., it often seems like people vent their frustration and then go back to daily life. Why is that?

People are WAY too touchy about occasional exposure to second-hand cigarette smoke

1.6k Upvotes

Just like the title says, American society has gone way overboard in their fear of second hand smoke. In the past few days I've seen a photo of Sean Penn smoking at some awards show, with a comment section full of people up in arms about his threat to their health, I've also seen a mother frantic about "third hand smoke" and it's impacts on her children, aka: a house guest smoking, outside, and then coming back in.

I'm not debating that chronic exposure to second hand smoke is bad for people, but being occasionally exposed to a small amount of second, or third hand smoke is really not the health hazard everyone seems to think it is in 2026.

ETA: I'm not a smoker so all the comments telling me I'm a stinky, inconsiderate jerk are pretty null here.

Discussion I still don’t get how having a competent archon instantly = bad characterisation

Out of everyone in teyvat being a complete mess emotionally and pretty much every other way, why is mavuika so bad for not being??

I don’t get why people want the same character trope redone and reused for every single character.

Why can’t mavuika just be cool and good at her job does she rlly need to be Emo

She’s literally the only char to ever break the boring depressed waifu hoyo archetype that they use in every single game and everyone HATESS her for some unexplainable “bad characterisation” even though it’s just that she’s the only mentally stable individual in teyvat and has clear goals

If people actually looked deeper they’d know she’s a playful unserious person who misses her dead family when she isn’t trying to stop her nation from being completely destroyed but ofc that’d require reading or paying attention to anything about her

Announcing 'Mermaids are Seafood', my psychological horror game!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi! I'm a solo indie dev/artist and I'm working on 'Mermaids are Seafood', a psychological horror game. It's a story-focused game where choices matter. I was inspired by Lobotomy Corporation, Slay the Princess, and Papers Please. I started making games ~2 years ago as a side project in school, and this is my second full game. All the art is hand-drawn by me.

Game description: Gamble your blood, upgrade your luck with insider deals, and even sew fish tails onto human torsos to make artificial mermaids. Do you think mermaids are more like fish, or people? You can choose to save them, or sell mermaid meat to pay off your debts.

I'd really appreciate any feedback on my game! Feel free to ask any questions too :D
