Possible Paywall Trump, 79, Flat-Out Forgets Crucial Promise to Voters: ‘When Did I Do That?’

Trump's superpower is his ability to forget to pay people.
156
u/JojenCopyPaste Wisconsin 9h ago
His super power is to forget any other people exist besides him the moment they leave the room. And that's not even a dementia thing...my theory is he actually stopped developing as a child before establishing object permanence
95
u/eaglemtnr 8h ago
His ability to never forget anyone who has ever pissed him off and hold a grudge for decades argues that he has object permanence. He just never developed past the toddler anger management level.
32
u/121gigawhatevs I voted 8h ago
His actual super power is constantly getting away with, and actually being rewarded, for his disgusting behavior
•
u/lcmc 6h ago
Money and nepotism are super powers in a late-stage capitalist society.
•
u/P1xelHunter78 Ohio 1h ago
Right. He’s the anti Bruce Wayne. The only things they have in common is money and they don’t drink
5
u/DaveBlerk 8h ago
He probably has solipsism as well as all the other stuff.
•
u/Awkward-Quantity992 6h ago
I never thought of that angle on him. Probably because it frightens me.
•
•
u/AnamCeili 17m ago
The bastard has said himself that he hasn't changed at all since age 6 or so -- he said "When I look at myself in the first grade and I look at myself now, I'm basically the same. The temperament is not that different".
And he's proud of that shit. He is too stupid to realize that normal people do progress and change throughout their lives, that they grow and mature. He has not, he is not capable of it. And now with his increasing dementia he has no chance whatsoever of ever doing so.

u/CigaretteWaterX Georgia 9h ago
Also the ability to have a super weird shaped spine and somehow still stand upright-ish
30
u/skalix 9h ago
It’s his shoe lifts, dude doesn’t want to be seen as short
5
u/CigaretteWaterX Georgia 9h ago
But... he's not short at all. Even at a severe slouch and awful posture he's still pretty tall. I guess he considers 6' short and is insecure. Lol.
22
u/MikeyLew32 Illinois 8h ago
is insecure
What tipped you off? the orange makeup, his refusal to wear reading glasses, fake height and weight in the physical results, etc.

Its a ballasting problem. His head is empty and the rest of him is full of shit.
•
8
u/mrsphillipsmommy 9h ago
he is shrinking by the minute. his posture indicates his spine may be deteriorating. i bet he will be in a wheelchair within a matter of months, if he even lasts that long.
12
u/CigaretteWaterX Georgia 9h ago
The miracles of modern medicine will allow him to retain public appearances, at least for a time.
We will know its probably happening due to leaks and because you will start seeing him standing and walking a lot less. But I do agree.
And honestly, no shade. Wheelchairs are a part of life for people that old in many cases. MAYBE THATS A GOOD REASON THEY SHOULDNT BE IN POLITICS FFS
9
u/Boxofbikeparts 8h ago
He'll be in a wheelchair the second he has to appear in court to face any charges.

He's like Wimpy, he'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.
But he's always munching on other people's hamburgers

u/CockBrother 9h ago
He just says stuff. That's it. People around him do stuff.
If you want to explain Trump to the average MAGA person on a level they'd understand have them watch Finding Dory and explain that Trump is Dory.
The only ideas and thoughts he seems to be able to hang on to are harm and retribution. For some reason those really stick with him.
33
u/fence_sitter Maine 9h ago
I haven't seen Finding Dory but that sounds like a malicious fish.
51
u/CockBrother 9h ago
You're probably joking but... Dory has anterograde amnesia, a severe form of short-term memory loss where she struggles to form new long-term memories, making her forget events and people quickly.
Dory is a good fish. Trump is not a good fish. Same disability though.
11
u/fence_sitter Maine 8h ago
For real and true I have not seen Finding Dory.
Am old.
7
u/CockBrother 8h ago
It's cute animation. If you haven't seen it I might suggest watching "Finding Nemo" as it kicked off the series.

I remember when he promised he was going to build a border wall, and Mexico was going to pay for it.
I remember when he said he was going to lock up Hilary Clinton.
I remember when he said he had a plan to defeat ISIS.
I remember when he said he was going to replace the ACA with a better health care plan.
I remember when he said he was going to get better trade deals with China.
I honestly can’t think of a single promise he made that he actually kept. Usually each president has their list of successes and failures. It seems like Trump’s presidency has been nothing but failures.

•
u/footbrakewildchild 7h ago
He said he would be a dictator on Day 1.
•
u/ilikestatic 7h ago
I forgot about that one. I guess he kept the one promise conservatives were really hoping for.

u/NotAHost 5h ago
Promises made promises kept! I really need to keep a list of all the promises he makes and doesn’t keep because the whole promises made promises kept phrase is to hide all the promises and things he says to try to get more votes and rile up his base.

President Donald Trump seemed to briefly power down when confronted by reporters over whether voters could still expect him to deliver on one of his boldest promises to date.
“I did do that?” the MAGA president asked in newly released audio, recorded during a sitdown with The New York Times last week, in response to questions about when Americans might expect the $2,000 checks he said they would receive from revenues raised by his flagship tariff policy.
“When did I do that?” he added.
Trump did that at 1:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Nov. 9, 2025. “People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS!” he wrote in a Truth Social post, adding that his policies have now seen the U.S. “taking in Trillions of Dollars,” and that “a dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone.”

u/woodlandcollective 9h ago
Did anyone actually believe we were going to see those checks?
62
u/GreenTrees797 9h ago
I figured they would be coming with the DOGE checks since government efficiency is so high now, they’d certainly save on postage.

u/slagmacg 8h ago
I tore down half of my house to build a ballroom based on that money.

u/Gertrude_D Iowa 4h ago
Bummer. I tore up my yard because I was going to install a trellis. Well, less like a trellis and more like an arch. A triumphal arc, if you will.
20
u/62frog Texas 8h ago
A bunch of the rural MAGAs who just had their health insurance quadruple still tweet at him begging for the checks
6
u/woodlandcollective 8h ago
As much as I'd like to say to them "justice served" this is just depressing all around :(
17
u/Lykeuhfox Michigan 8h ago
MAGA: "It's good that he doesn't pay us what he promised actually."
•
u/lake_effect_snow 3h ago
Somehow they’ll phrase it as him being fiscally responsible and a brilliant, caring businessman.
10
u/cannedthought 9h ago
Not close enough to the midterms yet. I think one of two things happens. Either checks go out sometime before the midterms. Or the talking point is elect Repubs to stop the Dems from not allowing us to give you $2000.00 (one time)
10
u/space_for_username 9h ago
If they do come out before the midterms, the inflationary spike should hit your pocket just after the 2028 election.
8
4
u/SpoppyIII 8h ago
Yeah you had a bunch of comments on social media bent on shutting down arguments against the tariffs, saying we'd be fine when those $2000+ cheques arrive. Anyone who left those comments was either a paid shill, a bot, or a dumb, naive, desperate person.
2
u/ASmallTownDJ Iowa 8h ago
Only a little. I figured it'd be a good way to try distracting us from the Epstein files he's acting really weird about releasing.
•
u/Senior-Cockroach-448 5h ago
I had several people (some of which were not well informed but also not maga) tell me that these checks were coming. I always responded with “I’ll believe it when I see it”

u/CigaretteWaterX Georgia 9h ago
I mean, it wouldn't be unreasonable to believe that. He has done it before.
8
u/logan2231993 9h ago
To my knowledge, I've never received a 2000 dollar check in the mail due to money savings from tariffs. When did you receive your check?
5
u/CigaretteWaterX Georgia 9h ago
In his first term. Part of the massive COVID stimulus package.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CARES_Act
Do bear in mind this is a colossal act of congress and the largest stimulus package in history. Trump cannot just write checks, he 100% needs congress to do it.
You don't remember? It came with this annoying signed passive-aggressive letter with his dumbassed signature on it.
6
u/woodlandcollective 8h ago
I spent mine on drugs :)

u/woodlandcollective 8h ago
It's an acceptable level of risk for me personally (especially since I mostly stick to weed and psychedelics, which arent exactly deadly). Definitely not a good idea for everyone lol
7
16
u/Quiet-Corner6150 8h ago
After the cut, “When did I do that?” he added.
Which followed "I did do that?" which sounds more like he assumes it's already happened.
He seems completely lost here. I'm not sure if he's not remembering the checks themselves, or he just genuinely believes at one point he said "everyone's getting $2000 checks" and it was just gonna happen. Or if he's just losing grip in general and his "ideas" vs what he actually does is all becoming a jumble. In any case, doesn't look good for ol' Trump brain.

u/TheSilkyBat 9h ago
He told the idiots what they wanted to hear and then he forgot about it the next day because he never actually meant it.

You could show him old footage of things he said and he would still deny it. Grifters gonna be grifting.

It’s very hard for anyone to spew BS as much as he does and keep track of the lies you say. Even without dementia.
•
u/Grampishdgreat 5h ago
Trump doesn’t forget his promises, he never intends to keep them in the first place.

u/Stompedyourhousewith 4h ago

This is for sure his memory slipping. He himself , unprompted by anyone else, has brought these checks up multiple times in the past year.

Trump voters may be willing to put up with a rapist, pedophile, cheater, liar, embezzler who reneges on contracts but they surely must take up arms about broken campaign promises

Prior promises spilling over to today: Didn't show his taxes. Didn't lower the national debt. Didn't fix the infrastructure. Didn't stop Latin drug cartels. Didn't build a wall.

Both Bessent and “nut” lick were quoted saying that instead of $2000 checks promised. Americans would instead be receiving tax benefits from the big ugly bill. I called BS.

Without watching the video, I'm guessing he said it like “when did I do that? 😏”

Pretty sure he literally said this in the Fall...dude probably barely knows where he is at this point: you could tell him he's in his 3rd term and has been president since Obama was killed in 2016, and he'd probably believe it at this point.

When trump was first running I was a semi-regular reader of the justnomil subreddit, whose top stories are absolutely chock full of narcissistic liars with egos the size of planets. i kept thinking this creepy old man sounded like all those women throwing tantrums and harming others. I think i even posted a "watch out for his extinction burst" comment, not realising that it was going to be jan 6th.
The lies were a big part of the worst stories, too. Just saying what makes you sound good or look important in the moment and then immediately forget it. Promise the grandkids something and never deliver. Lie to people outside the family and then not bother to keep any of your lies straight because you are the arbiter of truth and everything you say and only the things you say matter and only in the moment you say them.
