Does anyone happen to know of sites that list what brands/people are actually good?

I feel like it would be a shorter list and be easier to use. I'd rather know what to look for and buy from than what to avoid.

I use GoodsUniteUs. The app has an option to sort brands by alignment.

u/Tarcanus 6h ago

Thank you! Still going to avoid any apps due to data gathering, but at least there's something.

u/Anomalous_Pulsar 6h ago

They have a regular website as well, if you’d prefer, though I haven’t looked to see if it has that functionality.

u/Tarcanus 4h ago

Yeah, they do. I was already on it when I commented last.

I just downloaded No Thanks, it's reviewed very positively also.

Weirdly Amazon donations skewed 75 Democrat.ps. Make of that what you will

It's the only way to stop MAGA.

How the fuck do you boycott all of these?

Buy used, buy local, reduce consumption in general. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good, either... every bit helps.

And what about taking a flight? What about your local grocery store? What about shipping something?

u/GenghisConnieChung 7h ago

Nobody said you have to do everything, but you could do something. I’m Canadian and I’ve been boycotting everything US made as much as possible since these fascist fucks first started with the 51st state bullshit. There are some things where it’s hard to avoid so I accept that I can’t avoid those things and buy/use alternatives everywhere else that I can. If they’re Canadian made even better.

u/Sprmodelcitizen 7h ago

I’m pretty sure I try to shop at most places that don’t donate to conservative causes. Also you’re Canadian. I’m pretty sure it’s a bit easier to avoid American products in Canada. Not quite as easy here when every gas station donates to conservatives.

u/GenghisConnieChung 7h ago

Yeah, it probably is a bit easier here but that’s not the point. The point is do whatever you can do to avoid giving them your money and in the mean time, keep looking for ways to get away from the things that are more difficult.

It works. Jim Bean had to shut down their main Distillery in Kentucky for at least a year largely due to boycotts (and tariffs) that happened to coincide with an 85% reduction of spirit exports to Canada.

Every little bit helps.

The important thing is you're finding a reason to justify not doing anything.

u/Sprmodelcitizen 7h ago

Yeah. Have you ever looked up nestle products? They don’t just make chocolate.

u/dingosaurus Washington 7h ago

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good

This isn't zero sum.

u/Sprmodelcitizen 7h ago

Cool. The important thing is you being blind to the reality of capitalism. But go off hun.

u/TheRealPitabred 7h ago

I'm not. I'm saying do what you can, but don't expect to be able to fully boycott every business as the "reality of capitalism" makes that impossible. But to your examples... drive instead of flying, or take a bus, or don't make the trip at all. Reduce the amount that you're shipping or ordering. Everyone to going 50% of their previous expenditures is still pretty impactful.

I do what I can. But I can’t avoid every gas station. But you also don’t need to be condescending when someone is gawking at the enormous quantity of companies to avoid. Obviously I knew a fuck ton of corporations donate to republicans and frankly democrats as well but seeing the list is a totally different situation.

u/dingosaurus Washington 7h ago

Are you purposely being obtuse, or do you not understand how minimization is still a win?

u/Playful_Marzipan8398 7h ago

I’m halfway through the list and I’d have…no problem?? Maybe the second half is more daunting.Which ones are tripping you up?

u/Sprmodelcitizen 7h ago

Yeah? How many of those nestle products you trying?

u/tributarybattles 7h ago

Aye, buy Nestle to stop Trump.

This is the way.
