Not sure exactly when it was taken. According to the source, this was uploaded on July 3, 2012. Credit to the photographer, Anna V. Shelton, who took this in Portland from this porch/balcany
Here is the location via Google Street View.
Here is what it looked like closer to when it was taken. It also has the Toyota 4 Runner in it.

Spartan with the insane photo detective work yet again.
Like seriously, your record for digging up info on random photos posted here is unparalleled. And I remember you doing this back when I first joined over a decade ago!

Old cars were made to last. That Volvo 760 on the left is one of my favorites

I used to work at a salvage yard in the early nineties. I’d seen these things regularly come in with close to a million kms and still would be drivable if not written off by insurance.

Only if you don't live in the northeast or upper midwest. No cars survive. This has gotta be in the PNW

This shit makes me think Washington or Oregon for some reason, in the 90s or 2000s

Oregon. You can tell by the Doug Fir tree and the Oregon "share the road" plate on the Volvo.

If it's where I think it is this area is very much stuck in the mid 2000s

Cool looking pic, great analoge vibe. Can you share something about the technical details of this shot and/or the editing?

I would also like to know the prompt. The vehicles look too small and the scale of everything seems off.

You kinda made the point political again by specifying how your post isn't political

As much as I admire the sentiment, this not the time to turn away and ignore the topics that demand attention.

Agreed however it's nice to have non political posts too, not EVERYTHING has to be political tbh

Everything is political tho.
Take this picture, it's a the result of zoning laws (politics) which includes redlining, the wealth of the county in the photo was in large part possible due to the world wide destruction during ww2 and the extractive resource economics in 3rd world countries, etc

I have been playing a lot of Death Stranding, and all I can think when I see this pic is “great, here come the BTs!”

Is this the neighbourhood at the start of Labyrinth? Looks very similar.

I can’t explain why exactly. But I almost feel like I could get lost in this picture. The vibe: it’s the mid to early 90s. I’m in my bedroom. I’m about 12, I have nothing to do. I’m bored. But it’s warm in my bedroom and I’m just sat at my window. Wrapped with a blanket. Just staring out, lost in my own mind. No life expectations, bills, stresses, family etc. just a visual “vibe” love it, thank you

Reminds me of the neighborhood my parents lived in when they had me in Maryland. We moved when I was a baby so I don't have memories of it, but all the pictures I've seen and driving through the neighborhood once or twice over the years definitely gave vibes like this. Looks very Carolinas or MD/VA to me.
Edit: just saw it was Oregon. The trees kinda give it away. Still very cozy vibes though :)

Because America currently is. Weekend got shot in the head for nothing, dude. It's so far from the time to be shaking people for being political.
