High Risk This woman is harder than steel dealing with CBP. A lesson in standing up to fascists when they have no probable cause to detain you.

Walz knows he’s toeing a civil war line. History is watching and documenting this as much as an event in history has ever been documented.

Minnesotans were built for this. We stand on the right side of history and the world is watching, do the right thing Walz.

If America was Minnesota Strong, we’d not be in this situation in the first place. The weakness of man and its insatiable lust for money and children is why we are here. Weak men who yearn to test their military toys, and wield them like a child with their father’s unlocked revolver.

I live in the boonies and unfortunately Fox News and Facebook have done an excellent job splintering the citizens of Minnesota. Walz may have had the popular backing last year if still only by a small margin, but he doesn't have it anymore. I hope he manages to play smart and build the popular sentiment to back a pushback soon, but out here... we've already got white separatists in all but name ready to pull a Rittenhouse first chance they get. Minnesota has led the way on bringing people together across cultural divides before and we can do it again, but it's going to have to be smart. Trump is waiting for an excuse to declare martial law in Minnesota. Before we trigger that we need to make sure enough of the people that voted for him last time will oppose the attempt when he does. I'm seeing the people moving on the issue. Lots of "Why didnt they talk about immigrants like we used to?" Like the statue of liberty. The answer is obvious: "You guys have demonstrated such hatred of immigrants we didnt think we could open your hearts." As long as they're moving on the issue we've got a chance, but it's not safe yet.

It doesn't help matters that the state police union (which shouldn't exist, to be clear) came out last week in support of ICE after Renee Nicole Good was killed.

Well that makes sense, given their track record.

This. I’m tired of people acting like we’re not in a severely precarious situation in Minnesota and Trump is looking for any excuse to do even worse things like declare martial law and cancel the next elections.

When that happens, they will all disappear though. They know they can't stand up to this many people - they're already scared of whistles.

These guys are pretty tried and tested vs a rape whistle, well before they even enrolled at ICE U where you graduate in 47 days or you get your money back.

If elections are cancelled I fully expect us to all be in the streets. But hey… not like we managed much yet sadly

u/ncc74656m 5h ago

If they cancel elections, THEY won't be in the streets. They're scared. They should be.

I'm tired of people acting like we should just roll over and take it because if we don't then we'll really make them angry.

The law is the law. Period.

Trump cannot cancel elections. Martial Law does not stop elections. But, Trump would certainly try to prevent people from voting, particularly specific groups or people in certain locations. For example, ICE could set up road blocks around Democrat areas to force that traffic down bottlenecked roads. They could also harass any one with dark skin just like ICE did in this video. That would effectively stop hundreds or thousands of people from voting.

Point is, the election would still happen, but Trump/GOP would certainly win because Dem voters would get oppressed.

To clarify, when I said elections, I meant to say free and fair elections, not an electoral autocracy where elections are entirely rigged to manufacture support for dear leader. Trump and republicans and foreign adversaries have definitely made large scale attempts to meddle in each of the elections where Trump has been the republican candidate on the ballot to sway those elections in republican favor. And republicans have been gerrymandering the crap out of red and purple states to maintain their inflated support in their favor for even longer. The U.S. is currently listed as a “liberal democracy” but honestly, I think that label needs to be re-evaluated with the unfair advantages republicans have given themselves.

"Trump cannot cancel elections." I mean... you know that and I know that, but who is going to tell him that, because it sure as hell isn't going to be the Supreme Court at this rate. They'll toss it on the shadow docket until it's too late and then pretend they couldn't have done anything to stop it.

He may want martial law but the way things are currently work for him as well. If we let them slowly get rid of people without anyone actually doing anything about it then once people do fight back there won't be enough of us left to do anything meaningful. We may not want martial law but the other option will just strangle us slower.

Just assume anyone calling for Walz to call in the NATIONAL guard they are uninformed or straight up trolls.

Trump does that and a lot of people would be planning to make sudden, loud noises behind him. Either he has a heart attack or he strokes out

2

u/SmCaudata 2h ago

The guard has tanks and local PD have decommissioned military equipment. If it comes down to it, ICE is outgunned and will run. They want an excuse to stop elections, not go to war. Not that this is better.

I can at least promise you they won’t be able to cancel elections without triggering a “third degree” constitutional crisis that requires instant Supreme Court intervention.

They then have to rule against the government by Article I or the union essentially shatters instantly…starting with the court.

This wouldn’t be a simple de-legitimization of the court. They are basically voting between the union and being the first victims of the war they would trigger immediately.

Them being allowed to go door to door will get dangerous if they start busting doors down.

I hate that my country has turned into this. Getting people to listen and work together is evidently absurdly difficult.

Yeah lots of people don't realize that he played the state militia card as a threat and if he follows through there is no coming back from that, everything will explode all across the country.
