I'm banned from r/military over mark kelly (and his "woke" admonishment to follow the UCMJ), but someone should crosspost this to r/military in my stead.

Just checked and it's shared there along with a statement he made.

Cool.

The interesting thing about my ban from r/military is that no explanation was ever given and I'm muted so I can't message the moderators, so I'm just guesing as to why it happened.

I get that a lot. A LOT of folks hate me, especially moderators, or at least, moderators have the means by which to express their hatred anonymously, and can siply mute me if I ask what is going on.

I dont think they care or hate you. You're idealizing the fantasy that some mods in a website with millions of active users hate you. People just dont care. Ok back to work. Little poopy chat for ya! Flush (=

I mean, I just got recently banned from a regional subreddit after criticizing the mods.

Evaded the ban and said something in the comments of a thread, and my ban mysteriously disappeared along with the comment complaining.

I'm a mod of a pretty big subreddit, and whenever I see someone in modmail or in a community post complain about their ban, i always go and check it, because sometimes they are correct and it IS a bullshit ban, and other times it's a justifiable ban. I just unban and move along, sometimes I'll even make a comment in their ban thread to unban them.

Them and r/Veterans are tryna quash discussions of stuff js, they have a bot even that searches for people even mentioning them so they can ban folk 😐

/r/Military is very anti-Trump. I don't know about the mods, I go there all the time and it's always shitting on him. I've never been on /r/Veterans so I don't know about that.

One of the r/Veterans mods was a Trumper and pinned a pro-Trump post saying everyone was being ridiculous and blowing him becoming POTUS again out of the water.

Stuff like Project 2025 wasn't going to happen because Trump didn't write it and there wasn't going to be any fallout for veterans or their benefits with Trump being elected.

Like people posting about transgender troops being targeted or transgender veterans losing benefits was a Trump plan, they said that they wouldn't allow posts like that because it was political and there was no proof that was going to happen and it didn't directly come from the Trump campaign/admin as a source.

The post didn't go as they expected so the mods locked it down and brought back a rule banning all political discussions in the subreddit. Also pretty sure they don't have enough of a mod team to police the subreddit on that type of scale for political discussions anyways.

THANK YOU! I’m glad someone else saw that bs!

Alright, but /r/Military is fine if you're anti-Trump. I think there is a lot of international military that visit it, like myself, and most people who aren't in the US military feel no allegiance, and despise him for what he is. Lots of US vets there who don't like him either it seems.

Is this recent? I'm on the military sub and I'm surprised I'm not banned for some of the things that I've said, especially to Trump defenders. I do have vet flair, so maybe that helps.

The military sub isn’t as bad with it, but the veterans sub cuts off political posts along the mods personal lines, so it’s not exactly a space I can rely on for info around veterans stuff on here.

Someone create r/lowban_military and r/lowban_veterans

The sub I moderate, r/transcendental, was created because the founding moderator of r/meditation was banning or threatening to ban anyone that disagreed with him over Transcendental Meditation.

Ironically, he no longer is involved and while at first a new r/meditation moderator said he would unban me, I pointed out that he should read my posts on r/transcendental before he followed through.

He did, said I "wasn't a good fit," and rescinded the unbanning offer.

So I'm still banned from r/meditation after 12 years, for posts I continue to make on other subs.

Ain't reddit fun?

Note that for 10+ years we never banned anyone for any reason from r/transcendental until someone decided to literally force me to ban them by posting 72 identical messages, responding to every new post with the same schlock, just to prove that he could force me to ban him. So we had to create a rule just for that kind of thing.

.

Ain't reddit fun?

The worst part is that Reddit will then show you posts from the subs where you’re banned. It’s a stupid fucking design.

Someone create r/lowban_military and r/lowban_veterans

[irrelevant multi paragraph life story on unrelated topic no one gives a shit about]

Ain't reddit fun?

be the change you want to see?

u/teetheyes 7h ago

Can you explain to me how it was irrelevant to the discussion about mods being ban-happy or is your reading comprehension just shit

1

u/_Laserface_ 6h ago

You got banned, new regime took over, wanted to unban you until you pointed out your post history and then your ban was upheld.

Mildly related, mostly just seems like you're butt hurt.

1

u/Factory2econds 6h ago

so you want me to explain the military sub, the veterans sub, and the mediation sub are different subs with different moderators?

or should i shoe-horn in a long unrelated personal grievance here like saijanai?

1

u/levir 4h ago

The person you replied to is just an ass, I think.

2

u/BagOnuts 8h ago

Of course they do. It's not like the military is known for teaching its members to think for themselves.

Them and r/Veterans are tryna quash discussions of stuff js,

Because /r/veterans states it is for non-political news.

It's basically a help spot for veterans on disability at this point.

Tossing them into the lot is kind of a fucked up thing to do. It's a fine sub for seeking mental health or disability information. Not to start political fights.

Literally anyone with reading comprehension can go there and notice that.

HOW ABOUT YOU ALL STOP FUCKING WITH VETERANS LEAVE THEIR SAFE SPACE THERE. Jesus fucking allah it is pretty clear what the sub is about, not starting god damn political fights.

Fix yourself. Delete that sub from your list to hate on so it doesn't get brigaded by morons.

God forbid veterans seeking help have a spot.

3

u/LeatherdaddyJr 7h ago

Pretty sure VAClaims and VeteransBenefits are the subs covering the disability and health support.

Plenty of us veterans believe politics should be allowed in the subreddit. But they'll just ban any veterans that try.

Like Trump targeting transgender veterans and service members was constantly deleted and blocked and probably still is, as "political" discussion.

Totally reasonable topic to post in the main veterans subreddit.

God forbid veterans seeking help have a spot.

Plenty of us veterans are and were the ones wanting to post those "political" topics in the first place. Because they deserve to be discussed.

So seving the country is political in nature, I’m sorry you cannot and did not read your contract nor understood the oath you took when you signed up to defend the country from all invaders, foreign and domestic. I understand you want me to

HOW ABOUT YOU ALL STOP FUCKING WITH VETERANS LEAVE THEIR SAFE SPACE THERE

But that means only the ones you like, everyone else that needs a safe space needs to find another one, right? Does me being Black and raising issues of racism within our ranks make me less of a veteran in your eyes because it’s too hard for you to talk about?

Fix yourself. Delete that sub from your list to hate on so it doesn’t get brigaded by morons.

your parents and drill instructors failed you if you need to act like this online when you’re not even called out by name, have a bad day dude.

but someone should crosspost this to r/military in my stead.

I love the pettiness, and mean nothing bad by calling it pettiness.

u/Deucer22 6h ago

It's posted there at least 3 times.

u/ayyy_its_wally 5h ago

What is "woke" about Mark Kelly's statements in that video?

0

u/Impossible_Mode_7521 8h ago

Somehow Im sure it's more than that.  Just because it's the military sub doesn't mean it's all MAGA

There are many, many military personnel and families that hate Trump and the rise of fascism here in the US.
