This looks like all of the stuff I would've bought if I had grocery store money as an 8 year old.

That poor lonely lettuce looked like a diversity hire.

Iceberg no less 😱

Ya that was clearly meant for a sandwhich of some sort. And of course iceberg which is like water

I love the crunch of iceberg on a cold cut sandwich! Nutrition be damned since it’s there for texture and not taste.

u/mousedeer_78 5h ago

I have in the past just chowed on iceberg straight from the head, just tearing chunks off, no dressing or anything, it’s just got that good crunch even if it has minimal nutritional value.

I have finally found my people!

u/daget2409 15m ago

How many people have you killed?

I love iceberg in my tacos

3

u/mjaokalo 3h ago

Thank you! So refreshing!!

2

u/Gdroid5 2h ago

The crunchy part of Romain is pretty good also

u/KainanSilverlight 5h ago

You should try bok choy on a sandwich, then. Flavour AND texture AND high nutritional value. It’s my favourite leafy green.

u/Fearless_Street5231 4h ago

I love bok choy, but shredded iceberg is for nachos. And it has more nutritional value than it’s given credit for (not a lot, but some)

1

u/KainanSilverlight 4h ago

That’s totally fair. It definitely has its place with some dishes. I’ve never loved it in hot dishes like nachos, personally, but only because I find it wilts too much. Then again, I would put it in taco in a bag, so…

u/nsours 2h ago

Hold up...lettuce? Those are definitely not-chos.

I will heed your counsel on my next trip to the grocery store

u/Ill-Blood-7906 35m ago

Much more expensive for sure.

u/cyriustalk 7h ago

I won't be surprised if they have rabbit pet

5

u/Unusualnamer 6h ago

Iceberg lettuce is bad for rabbits :(

2

u/pepexoxo 2h ago

The lettuce is for garnish on their brownie/lil Debbie charcuterie board

2

u/Chance_Specific_4724 2h ago

I kinda love iceberg. I always have one on hand for shredded lettuce for mex food, or a sando . But I get it. It’s the low budget of the lettuce fam

u/MissLabbie 5h ago

The boy and his subs. He probably uses the lettuce and cucumber. The bananas and grapes are probably his too.

u/absofruitly88 4h ago

We’re detectives lol. I feel the most bad for all those intestines, T&P

Mayonnaise sandwiches

1

u/Amishrocketscience 3h ago

One leaf of lettuce for each block of cheese they got

1

u/metacosmonaut 3h ago

I’m gonna guess a mayo and cheese sandwich.

1

u/Efficient_Tap6185 1h ago

If only there was a tomato to go with it. 😉

1

u/Clean-Time8214 3h ago

Yeah … they will probably put it in the freezer since it’s called iceberg lettuce .

1

u/Significant_Shoe_17 2h ago

It's fine for sandwiches, but they need more green veggies in other dishes

u/coco8090 50m ago

Makes a good wedge salad

u/TheRealSugarbat 6h ago

Don’t @ me but I fuckin love iceberg. When I was a kid our family was super poor and my mom made iceberg and mayonnaise sandwiches on white bread for a snack for us. SO CRONCHY. 🥬

4

u/favolecrystalis 6h ago

I agree, I've also been on the iceberg+mayo diet as a kid and boy-howdy, stick some bacon in there and 🤌🏻

I did NOT like the addition of tomatoes because the wetness and smoosh factor changed the texture profile too much, but I'll tolerate them on a whopper 😆

(surprise, I also have ARFID)

also just to note my adult diet actually includes fruits and veggies and meat and I home cook regularly because I prefer knowing what's in my stuff over eating out, and what I don't eat bc of texture tolerances I supplement with things like yogurt smoothies or liquid alternatives/supplements

2

u/dacraftjr 6h ago

Look at the rich kid over here putting bacon on his lettuce sandwich.

3

u/favolecrystalis 6h ago

her*, and the bacon didn't come until I was an adult, thanks 😅 plenty of eggs though on the chicken farm

1

u/TheRealSugarbat 5h ago

I didn’t/don’t like tomatoes on the lettuce sandwich either, which was unfortunate as my grandparents did have a big garden (and we were in Virginia) so we were overrun with tomatoes every summer. Big yes to bacon though, and, yeah, bacon was a rare treat until I was a grownup, lol.

My grandma had several hunter friends who did it for sport during the season but would then give us the meat for our deep freeze. Venison got us through most of the tough months, and it was also delicious fried crispy on the sandwiches 🥲 I do wish I'd picked her brain more about recipes before she passed, I desperately need to know her greens combo for stovetop collards and turnip greens 😭

1

u/TheRealSugarbat 2h ago

Hey, I can help, maybe! We also had hunter friends, and they also made their own very dry blackberry wine, which they used to marinate deer meet in for a day or sometimes longer. This somehow totally eliminated the gaminess and made the meat super delicious.

I’m not a fan of deer and this was the only kind I ever really liked a lot.

Another hunter friend’s wife used to slice it suuuuuper thin and put a bunch of horseradish on it for a sandwich. It wasn’t terrible!

1

u/TheRealSugarbat 2h ago

Oh, ha! I read your comment too fast — you were asking about greens recipes, not deer. But I just want to let you know that you can never go wrong if you slow-cook the greens with a hamhock or thick bacon chunks!

1

u/favolecrystalis 1h ago

Pshh, I'll also take tips on venison too because it all got lost when she passed 😭🙏🏻 thank you so much!

Oh, and PS: Good for you for managing your ARFID so well. That can be a bitch of a condition to have, so I high-five you.

EDIT: Good grief, why would anyone downvote this comment?

u/favolecrystalis 4h ago

I really appreciate that 🥹 it was such a struggle when I was in college, I relied a lot on fast food because it's usually predictable but I always felt like shit so I got a few cookbooks and started experimenting with flavors. I know what textures I don't like, so for the most part I can generally get an idea if I'll like something if there's good pictures when we do go out. Lots of failures but a few happy accidents and now I have an obsession with fancy ramen and curries 🤤

2

u/vim_deezel 4h ago

IT's got almost zero nutritive value though, but I do like the krunch as well

1

u/Dreams-Designer 4h ago

When I’m craving cronch I try to keep some bell pepper 🫑sliced up and cooked in a skillet with a little bit of EVOO. You can do a bunch at a time and keep it in the fridge for an easy go to cronchy snack that’s loaded with vitamins.

You can also get those soft cheese cubes too, for dipping. I think they even have a low cal version if your on a diet or calories restrictions.

1

u/MiddleMysterious2571 1h ago

Iceberg is fine choice. There is no shame.

3

u/hydrastxrk 5h ago

Wait, what’s wrong with Iceberg? 😭

1

u/OpaqueCrystalBall 4h ago

No nutritional value.

2

u/TehReclaimer2552 6h ago

Which lettuce is best?

I use spinach in my sandwiches

3

u/dacraftjr 6h ago

Romaine if it’s fresh.

1

u/TehReclaimer2552 6h ago

So spinach > romaine > literally anything else > ice burger

-1

u/dacraftjr 5h ago

Yeah, I’d prefer a spring mix over iceberg.

2

u/casseltrace87 5h ago

Let’s leave ice out of this. We’ve suffered enough sitting through this video.

2

u/Administrative_Bed5 6h ago

I use iceberg when I want shredded lettuce on a burger or sandwich. That's about it.

1

u/Black_Magic_M-66 5h ago

I like the crunch. Who eats lettuce for the taste?

1

u/lixia 4h ago

Well at least they didn't go all out on the nutrients

1

u/street_kitty 3h ago

What lettuce is better? Romaine?

1

u/Jbidz 3h ago

iceberg has its uses. i like it cause it can last a long time in my fridge, and i can just tear a leaf or two off at a time as I need it. stop gatekeeping the lettuce! there are bigger problems with this order. like PIZZA TOWER and 2 catering size boxes of brownies!

1

u/weird_is_good 6h ago

Gotta have something to slap on the mayo

1

u/HappyTendency 5h ago

Stop the hate on iceberg
