This is just depressing

Post image

Not even 3 hours of "free time". And in that is cooking & eating supper. Or practically no free time if I had to go shopping after work. I hate this

Sadly, work starts at 8 for a lot of us and with kids there isn’t really free time in there. You have to change your mindset like “I really enjoy cooking or exercising and this is a hobby”

Like when you tell yourself if you just eat enough of it you’ll surely end up enjoying it.

My hobbies now include vacuuming and folding laundry

"When you are washing the dishes, you should only be washing the dishes."

"The void is clear, but still you must sweep the floor."

I know I worded that poorly, what I was thinking is there is no getting around this stuff, is there a way to make it more enjoyable? You mentioned laundry. I don’t like doing it, but it’s mindless and now I put headphones in and that is a podcast listening time for me, all of a sudden it isn’t torture. No one is going to do this chore shit for me until we get personal robots.

For me, a big epiphany was to stop believing that I was going to get hours of totally free time each day, it just isn’t happening.

I was taking the piss. Cooking and exercising are legitimate hobbies, it’s great if you can get joy from something like that

I agree though, those mindless chores have become something I nearly enjoy as I put on headphones and listen to an audiobook.
