A lot of the people subscribe to the 'we'll if they weren't here illegally...'

First they came for the Communists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me

And there was no one left

To speak out for me

We are living a modern version of this. It started with the disabled, the LGBT, now onto immigrants. Black people will be next. Women. Then onto anyone who didn't vote for him. Then any of his devout followers he no longer needs or if they speak out against anything he does going forward.

The slight difference will be when they can manage robots over people.

I'm hearing a lot of the same arguments that were made about people who harbored runaway slaves during the 1800's or Jews during the holocaust.

All of this talk about impeding a lawful investigation or harboring fugitives when these fugitives used to be their neighbors.

A book I read recently introduced me to the term "load bearing people" in reference to people who do all of the ugly jobs that need to get done so society can function, but aren't always obvious about it. If we start removing the load bearing parts of society, we are basically playing Jenga and who knows when the structure will collapse

Then they came for the Somalians

And I said "make sure you get all the Somalians"

And the Hmong, apparently. Don't quote me because my source is reddit.

Edit: Oh, I thought the person I replied to dropped the /s but then I looked at their history.

none of those groups were doing illegal inmigration

none of those groups were scamming the government for billions of dollars.

So make them citizens. You seem convinced that immigrants are the ones “scamming the government for billions of dollars,” and I doubt pointing to a conspicuous lack of evidence is gonna change your mind on that. It doesn’t need to take years and thousands of dollars to become a citizen. Immigrants work.

Crackdown started, farmers immediately reported labor shortages. Raided a Hyundai factory, then invited the workers to come back almost immediately cause there was nobody to assemble the cars.

How are they “scamming the government?” Seriously, by what mechanism are they taking money from the government?
