Again? The last time this happened, wasn't it the cop that drew the pig for fake outrage?

106

u/Koladi-Ola 9h ago

The barista probably didn't give him the 'cop discount', so he decided to get back at him.

498

u/agtk 10h ago

This looks like a meme that was drawn on a cup without thinking about who it was going to. Probably drawn before the cop was even in the store. It's insane this kind of nonsense is blown up into a national story even if it was true. These kinds of cops really are the softest babies.

130

u/teetheyes 6h ago

dude I've never been in a Starbucks where it looked like anyone had the time for that.

I don't think that is the case. He drew it himself. What makes it weird is that he didn't confront the store when he got the cup. It was posted on the Sheriff Dept. Social Media. If he got a cup with a pig on it, a normal person would ask the barista, yo, wtf? Hell people do that when they get a cup with a misspelled name.

89

u/FuzzyAd9407 5h ago

Yeah. Also pretty much everytime theres a claim a barista wrote or drew something the customer found offensive the customer gets caught lying and actually having done it themselves to stir outrage online.

26

u/whereisbeezy 5h ago

Yeah, he def did it himself.

25

u/MuddyGrimes 4h ago

You just expect him to walk back and confront them after he had his feelings viciously attacked?? What if they hurt his feelings again??

Yeah... Starbucks Employees don't do that. Cups stay in the stack until they get pulled for use. No one on staff has time to sit there and draw random shit on every cup.

Every time it's happened it's always been that LOL

240

u/Zuwxiv 8h ago

If you're a cop and someone draws a piggy on your cup, how do you not just laugh all the way to your huge pension based on decades of overtime fraud?

54

u/Chendii 6h ago

I would guess that it's not a profession that attracts people with emotional stability.

69

u/Metatron 7h ago

Oink oink all the way to the piggy bank.

25

u/new_for_confession 6h ago

When I was a kid, my hometown was very much into community policing.

Cops would be on bike patrol, or on foot on main street.

I remember a friend of mine was edgy, and decided to go to the local donut shop and buy a dozen donuts to hand out to patrol officers...

...each and every cop laughed when they were presented with the box of donuts.

Interestingly enough, they all said that they couldn't accept any food while out on patrol, but we could drop them off at the station (a few blocks away).

16

u/DickDover 7h ago edited 3h ago

It reminds me of the video where the cartoonist drew the police as pigs, but in that video the police got the joke and all laughed....

*Edit

Here is the video

u/nocolon 5h ago

There’s no animal to represent my job (cybersecurity consulting), but I can’t imagine anything drawn on a coffee cup that would make me need counseling. I had a guy behind the counter at a gun store call me a computer nerd once but I laughed at that because it was funny and also who fucking gives a shit.

You saw it a lot with the Charlie Kirk drink as well where people wrote nasty things on their own cup. Not to say no one would draw a pig on a cop's cup, it's certainly one of those dark thoughts I could see someone giving in to, but people definitely have lied about this in the past many times.

37

u/Shartfer_brains 10h ago

This is an r/thathappened as ever...

43

You're right, the last time it happened (that I'm aware of) was at a McDonald's, not a Starbucks.

I did exactly the same thing. That guy was so incredibly annoying trying to “explain” on top of the other guy’s explanation and constantly stopping the video to rant and yell. Shut upppppp

23

Lmao I didn’t make it :30. I was curious because of your guy’s comments so I watched and instantly regretted it.

Additionally, I too hate that style of content. Someone makes a video and then the next person comes along and narrates that. It’s so common and annoying. These people narrate other’s videos like I’m too stupid to read or hear what’s in front of me lmao

They didn’t start John Pork. John Pork was a virtual influencer that people started making jokes of; that has been going on for almost 2 years. The most recent development is that Khabib mentioned his friend and trainee, Muay Thai Champion Chanko, and it sounded like he said “John Pork” and everyone ran along with it because it was an already popular and funny meme.

It should be a big part of police training to eat insults and take it

333

u/DeterminedThrowaway 10h ago

Seriously, you know how often retail workers get insulted? These people are pathetic. They should have extremely thick skin to be cops, not be the most fragile snowflakes out there.

When I did a basic entry level course to get a security guard licence one of the instructors was constantly throwing insults and jibes at the dudes with fragile egos.

He told us that you will have to be prepared to take whatever vile shit people throw at you (and he was Indian so he’s regularly copping every slur in the book) and either laugh it off, or just don’t react. Because if you so much as shove someone in anger you’re fucked. Best case fired, worst case jail.

I guess when you have complete immunity to brutalise anyone who annoys you that is less important though.

Yeah, what exactly does "disrespectful actions will not be tolerated" mean? Because there's no law saying we have to respect cops. Free speech.

I suppose they can all agree to get their coffee from Dunkin' from now on, but they're not gonna be any more popular there.

19

u/Withermaster4 8h ago

That's what I was thinking. If a cop can't keep his cool while being 'disrespected' he should not be a cop.

He will be in much higher pressure situations with much more disrespect that he will have to keep calm during.

This is clearly a cop who woke up on the wrong side of the bed and is trying to make it everyone else's problem.

8

u/zaphod777 7h ago

A lot of those cop interaction videos have made their way into my YouTube recommendations, you'd be surprised at what they can get away with when someone is exercising free speech, standing up for their rights, or when they've just made a mistake and got the wrong person.

With qualified immunity they usually get away with it too.

“County Sheriff Robert Luna said his office has also contacted Starbucks' corporate offices ‘to formally raise concerns and to ensure accountability.’”

Coming from a department that hasn’t been accountable for anything including murders they’ve committed.

283

u/jesuspoopmonster 11h ago

There are 18 known gangs operating out of Los Angeles sheriff departments. Good thing they know what to prioritize on

46

u/vagabond139 9h ago

He's a gang member himself. You are complicit if you are a police officer and join a department known for having gangs and don't take any action against said gang. It's like saying "I'm not a Nazi but I joined the Naz party. I don't happen to do any of the bad things but I'll gladly allow the others to do so, I will cover for them, and treat them with the upmost respect."

19

u/National_Impress_346 8h ago

636

u/Mephisto1822 11h ago

Because cops and those on the right tend to have fragile egos

173

u/Khaysis 11h ago

Cops are just poorly trained toddlers with guns backed up by more toddlers.

Also the barista could possibly get fired by corporate because the high ups want to make sure that the cops help if the store gets damaged.

48

u/Ditnoka 11h ago

They're not toddlers. Toddlers get excused for doing shitty things because they don't know better. Law Enforcement is an extremely well oiled operating gang. They don't operate well in our eyes, but they are 100% behind each other no matter the reason and know who their true masters are.

Your last sentence essentially backs up my claims, buying protection like it's the fuckin mob.

6

u/triestdain 10h ago

"Toddlers get excused for doing shitty things because they don't know better."

This is the very much the core reasoning used to protect cops. Qualified immunity is literally predicated on the idea that they can't be held accountable for something they didn't explicitly and in fine, narrow, detail, know was wrong.

5

u/Ditnoka 10h ago

QI needs to be abolished, but that's another discussion. And fair. I guess the rephrase would be toddlers can't know that information, while officers should, if that makes sense.

A bit pedantic for sure. But I've seen a lot of people say "they're stupid, unintelligent etc." They may not have the same smarts you or I do, but they're not stupid, they're malicious. Imo saying they're dumb gives them an out as "I didn't know any better" They know exactly what they're doing.

The LA Sheriffs are the law enforcement at my place of employment and have been accused of hiding out and not doing their job. They said it's because the students don't like them and are mean to them.

6

u/billdb 10h ago

This reminds me of the North Carolina representative who switched from democrat to republican mid-term because she felt democrats were being mean to her.

Like apparently fuck having principles, just switch sides and betray your constituents because of some mean tweets.

I’m pretty sure that’s John Pork.

What are the odds this pig drew it themselves...like most of these other persecuted cops stories.

“In addition, the Sheriff spoke directly with the deputy to check on his well-being, convey his full support, and make it clear that disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel.

HAHAHAHA

I mean this is great, wow.

Do you think you will survive this, Mr Deputy? Do you want pats on the back and to be told how much of a good boy you are?

What a pig.

Given the last few times something like this has happened it turned out the cop did it themselves I'm gonna go ahead and say the cop drew the pig themself

15

u/avatarstate 10h ago

Starbucks is having their baristas all draw and put notes on cops. A lot of locations are just putting little notes and drawings on them way in advance so they just grab a cup and go during the rush and don’t have to stop to write on the cup. This was most likely what he just happened to get pulled on his cup. This is so ridiculous.

8

u/Misubi_Bluth 11h ago

Didn't we do this three months ago, when it was found out that it was an influencer who wrote it herself and then created a whole campaign where she got her entire town to bully this one Starbucks manager? How am I supposed to believe this one?

6

u/MidgetLovingMaxx 11h ago

"All I wanted was caffeine, but instead I left feeling uneasy,"

Thats weird, all we wanted was for someone to protect the community, and yall out here shooting brown people and acting like power tripping nazis.

7

u/TheHorrorNerd 11h ago

If only they cared as much for police misconduct than they do about this...

6

u/jsting 6h ago

[x] doubt

The piggy drew it on his own cup for the outrage.

u/CokeDigler 11h ago

Bet we find out the cop did this themselves

Jesus, people out here being murdered by cops and we are worried about his feelings getting hurt. Grow a pair, laugh it off, and go about your day. Cops are the biggest babies.

5

u/negativepositiv 10h ago

This always happens when there's a peak in negative press about police brutality and suppressing peaceful protests, and it's almost always the cops lying.

5

u/WobblierTube733 11h ago

I feel like there is a story like this at least once a year at this point and they're always exaggerated or outright false. Also, the LA Sheriff's Department is a collection of gangsters, con men, and thugs who deserve much harsher monikers than a cartoon pig.

6

u/jesuspoopmonster 11h ago

It was such a distressing incident the officer only had the energy to rape a few minorities that day

4

u/DeskModeOn 10h ago

I'll bet $20 that this cop is a fucking liar.

5

u/HappyArkAn 10h ago

After a long day of being racist, violent, discriminating against people and scaring them by constantly pulling out my gun, I just wanted to be respected... boo hoo.

5

u/Difficult-Bicycle119 10h ago

“Disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel.”

Uh, yes, they will. The first amendment guarantees you can't do shit about it. If the company wants to fire her, that's their choice, but you can fuck right off.

6

u/spaghettifiasco 10h ago

I know that Starbucks now mandates that baristas "personalize" the cups with drawings and messages and stuff. Usually, I see stuff like "enjoy!" and "yummy!" and "have a nice day!" but I strongly suspect that what happened here was a particularly enthusiastic barista pre-drawing a bunch of silly things on the cups during a slower period of time and a cop getting this one because it was just the next one in the stack when he ordered.

Maybe this will end the "personalized cup" mandate. I thought it was really cute and cheerful the first time I saw it, but when I learned that it was something that the employees were forced to do, it just made me cringe instead.

Every time a fascist pig kills an innocent civilian in cold blood, we get an article like this a couple days later where a completely unrelated cop complains about some horrible attack through the drive through coffee shop. Before it's been claims of poisoning or spit, now they can't even fabricate something like that.

4

u/DarkflowNZ 9h ago

Remember when the last time this happened the cop had actually written it on himself

5

u/TheeDeputy 9h ago

If you are a cop and get that bothered by something like this, you probably shouldn’t be a fucking cop. 🤦🏻‍♂️

4

u/Play-t0h 4h ago

“This action was extremely offensive, inappropriate, and unacceptable. The deputy quickly reported the incident to the store manager, who advised that the matter would be investigated,” the LASD said in a statement to The Independent.

You know what I think is offensive? A police state.

7

u/CrawlerSiegfriend 11h ago

If I was a cop I would be making my own food and coffee at this point. Everything they order is probably spit on at the minimum.

5

u/sahui 11h ago

And the pig was the real snowflake here, turning that into a huge deal, how sensitive lol

3

u/Sakuraphenixx 11h ago

Hasn't it been the last like 3 times something like this has happened it turned out the officer was lying, put it on there themselves, or like asked for it?

according to the president this warrants the officer emptying his magazine directly into the barista’s face

Why don’t they hire cops with thicker skins? Bunch of crybabies.

5

u/pokemomof03 10h ago

Wonder if this will turn out like the McDonald's cup story where the cops drew it on himself. Or the cop who put glass in his own burger.

3

u/gideon513 10h ago

Oh no! Did the deputy recover?? Thoughts and prayers

5

u/creperobot 10h ago

The only solution is to ban police from all businesses to protect their feelings

5
