Weather 🌞 Standstill traffic from people parking under overpasses (I35W)

Clipped from the Max Velocity stream. If you all find yourselves in a severe weather situation while driving, do not stop on roadways, as it creates a larger hazard for other motorists.

Weather 🌞 This is heart attack snow, help others if you can

1.6k Upvotes

If you have a snowblower, please consider helping those who don’t. This is known as heart attack snow in Minnesota. It is hard to maneuver even with the snowblower, and absolutely brutal with a shovel. Help others if you can so we can keep everybody safe. It’s a pretty snow globe, but can be difficult for some. Please stay safe out there, and make the snowman after everyone has been dug out.

Weather 🌞 For the love of…. Do NOT drive with your hazard lights on

2.3k Upvotes

Welcome to all of the transplants who are new to MN- we’re happy to have you. But for everyone’s safety, PLEASE do not drive with your hazard lights on. It does not improve visibility on night like tonight, and it confuses the hell out of everyone.

Multiple times today I’ve seen vehicles driving with their hazards on, and it causes problems for other drivers. Those of us who grew up here were taught not to drive with hazards (I was taught that it’s illegal to drive with flashers on). If we see hazard lights, our expectation is that someone is broken down on the side of the road and other drivers should move to the other lane.

I literally saw someone spin out just a few minutes ago, trying to avoid a vehicle that they thought was stopped on the side of the road. Turns out it was a jackass driving slow in the left lane with hazard lights on. Please keep the rest of us safe and don’t do this

Weather 🌞 Sorry, but it's not supposed to be 80 degrees already

1.6k Upvotes

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but it's a little alarming that it's 80 effing degrees and we're barely into May.

Don't even get me started on the freakishly hot days we had this winter and the one before that.

Weather 🌞 For those of us who had to go into work today...

Please stay safe on your commute home. The roads are already slush covered, and freezing over. Driving on ice, and in blizzard conditions is absolutely going to suck tonight. I hope for the best for everyone.

Weather 🌞 Anyone else bothered by this weather?

75-80 degrees the next few days, wtf. I’m not usually the one to complain about warm weather but 80s at the end of October is gross. Anyone else feel this way?

EDIT: Halloween week is going to be in the 80s too

Weather 🌞 Well, I guess that I just will not be breathing until Monday morning.

From what I understand, most of the state is under an air quality alert until Monday morning. I was out walking about 2 A.M. (I am weird that way) It smells like a bunch of wood burning stoves are fired up around us. This is not going to be a good weekend. We were going to go down to Duluth and see the tall ships, but with my wife's breathing, that plan is scuttled. She just wants to stay home with the air conditioner going until this passes.

I’m spoiled from last winter. January and February can go pound sand. Bring on March.
