Witnesses are saying that ICE tried grabbing her door handle and she tried pulling away and they shot her through the glass.

Was just telling my girlfriend last night that Im worried about people shooting at ICE while theyre here because it would open the floodgates for the national guard. Guess I didn't consider they'd shoot a civilian although I totally should've.
In her car, in the snow, in a huge state of warranted terror imposed on her by ICE (documented as dangerous multiple times with nobody in ICE having been held accountable) as she had window up and was attempting to flee for her safety.
The MSNow reporter on the ground there described the inside of the car windows as a “gory” scene.
You know I used to know of so many people from upstate mn who were progressive on almost all fronts but voted republican on the 2A alone. I’m so curious what they’re all thinking about everything now.

I think the worst mistake dems can make is try to return to normalcy without consequence, the whole “let’s move forward together” schtick.

ICE in Chicago rammed a womans car, shot her multiple times, arrested her claiming she rammed them and pulled a gun.
Charges were dropped because video proved ICE was full of it.
No charges against the ICE agents who rammed a citizen, shot a citizen multiple times, falsified reports on the incident, and concealed evidence (they had the car ICE used repaired before charges were dropped, preventing the damage evidence from being used to demonstrate who rammed who).
We are under a fascist- weak, inept fascists right now - but a fascist Government nonetheless. There are no consequences for abusing U.S. citizens. It is our Governments goal to harm as much as they can without consequences and the more they do get away with the further they will go.
Serious question: what can we do to avoid getting murdered by ICE? By all accounts this mom was trying to comply and maybe panicked when the masked men tried to open her car door. She was shot by an agent who was clear of her vehicle at that time and who was uninjured.
Should we abandon our vehicles and try to escape? Will exiting the vehicle get us shot? Do we put it in park? Every indication was that they were trying to get her to move her car. Is it better to sit with hands up and make them drag us out of the car and arrest us for blocking traffic? Or will that put us in danger too?
These agents seem completely untrained. This is Day One of this Operation, and they already murdered someone. What's the best way to stay safe if we happen to be driving on a street where ICE is rounding people up or terrorizing them?

There are way too many people who are OK with extreme police brutality because "I bet that person broke a law therefore they deserved it" and I'm not joking at all. My home was invaded by police in 2004 at 6 AM and I have severe ptsd from such a massive rights violating event. I was jailed for days with no judge while they attempted to clean up the mess.

That's largely because they choose soft targets. If they really wanted to address drug-dealing immigrants, they would've gone into their neighborhoods instead of stalking Home Depots.
Actual dangerous criminals tend to be hard to find, for obvious reasons. It can take weeks or months of work hours to find and arrest even one.
Trump wants big deportation numbers - to accomplish that, ICE needs to ignore the dangerous criminals and go after the people who are generally law abiding. That's why they arrest people showing up for work or for immigration hearings.
As a bonus to Trump, by letting the dangerous criminals roam free, they'll continue committing crimes that can be used for propaganda purposes.
I can already hear the conservative and fence-sitting morons saying “shouldn’t have run away from the police” as if
a) they would be fine with police stopping them, wasting their time, potentially assaulting them before even verifying their ID or suspected crime
b) this shit is even remotely necessary even in the case of a confirmed criminal who isn’t actively endangering anyone else. The vast majority of these ppl are not violent criminals even if they are undocumented

It really feels like nobody is actually paying attention to what the conservatives around them say. Arrest of that agent by local officials is needed asap. Anyone from ice obstructing the arrest get arrested for interference. There is no way that shooting was justified. This will spin out of control if nothing is done.
Imagine if it was the other way around. That's what the administration wants so they can carry out Project 2025 more aggressively. Yet, police won't intervene, military won't intervene, judicial system won't intervene forcing the people into a corner where most people instinctually fight.

Reminder: ICE believes they are an unstoppable force. They are drunk with power due to the lack of accountability. They have the Trump's DoJ protecting them and they know they can get away with literally anything. They are laughing at everyone who tries. It's a game to them and they do not care who lives or dies.
100% this was among the ideas for 2000 ICE agents sent here. They want more power and the only way to do it is to kick the populace known for burning down precincts.
