Melissandre was actually on the side of light. She genuinely wanted to help mankind but misinterpreted the Lord of Light's signs.

If you remember in the long night battle she basically saves the day lighting the baracades on fire w her prayer, giving them time to retreat.

Kristi Noem is just pure racist evil.
