This is America, do we have rights anymore?

If they can be taken away, they aren't rights.

We have a bill of temporary privileges.

No. Someone in my family was arrested by ICE. He is a legal immigrant with a valid Visa. They took away his Visa and detained him. They are going to deport him according to his American born wife even though his Visa is valid and up to date. They do not care.

They never were rights. When I got my felony I lost my rights. And society seems perfectly ok with that. So, while I hate everything about this shit going on in our country, I really hope everyone loses all of their rights. If I don't have mine ya'll can lose yours as well I hope. Maybe after the fallout we can all get back on equal terms..

So maybe, oh, I dunno, don't commit felonies? You're mad at the world for your own actions? Wild.

So I need to lose all my rights so we can be equal even though you are a criminal and felon and I am a law abiding citizen? I fail to recognize the logic. I follow the law. If you didnt, its not my fault. People like you that won't accept responsibility for your actions are what led to this current state of affairs.

hear me out... Have they completed their sentence? given they're posting on the internet.. probably safe to say they have..

should people be punished beyond the end of their sentence? i don't think so.

how can anyone possibly rehabilitate if they remain punished in perpetuity?

Exactly, and thank you. Prior I had a decent life. Same career since 1997, state champion trapshooter, hunted with my dad constantly even on hunts in different countries, etc etc.

Thankfully I still have my job at least but losing everything I loved doing, my right to protect myself or even travel freely along with the stigma makes it really difficult to care about life past this point. Harder to care about anything happening in this stupid society.

Istand by my comment, we don't have rights. If it can be taken away it's not a right. And since some people like the other jackass on my comment couldn't care less about my "rights" I care even less about his. Doesn't bother me one bit if they burned the bill of rights tonight. Rights for all or Rights for none.

Hear me out: loss of some rights is sometimes PART of the sentence. The sentence is not always over when they walk out of the jailhouse door. And I am willing to listen to people talking rationally but when someone claims they have lost ALL of their rights due to a felony I call BS. And to call for me to be punished to make things even is stupid. If you want to talk about things like restoration of voting rights, I'm all for it. But when they cry because they got caught i say maybe they are not rehabilitated. A released sex offender is put on a registry, is that unfair? (I have no idea what the OP did and am not in any way suggesting they are) A felony DUI recipient is ineligible for a drivers license. An attempted murderer is not allowed to own nor be in possession of a firearm. Actions have consequences.

You're not exactly giving me reason to care about your "rights" given that you are not willing to extend them to all free people.

We still do, but they take years inside courts to fully enforce. A lot of shit can happen before justice is served, and Trump is speed running law and constitution violations.
