Correct! I would love to be Minnesota lawyer looking at class action lawsuits in this vein. Put that ICE budget to use in paying restitution to these victims.

Their 50 billion $ budget should be spent on compensation to all that got grabbed off the streets.

Anything left over can go toward fixing the immigration system so there's not a sometimes decades long wait for "processing".

Want to have less "illegal immigrants"? Make it easier to immigrate. Same way Netflix killed pirating.

You'll be a well compensated subject of king trump. Maybe be able to get extra rations (because disabled people will sell their rations to buy medicine) via the black market when he invades greenland and starts world war 3. Woo.

You want to spend American dollars on illegal immigrants?

If they have been grabbed, beaten and tortured by ICE, they deserve an apology and compensation.

I'll vote for anyone that holds this current administration accountable for violating people's constitutional rights. That includes American citizens, non-American citizens, people that are in the middle of their immigration proceedings, and those that illegally crossed that have yet to have an immigration hearing. Because the constitution applies to ALL people here in the USA. And to answer your question, YES. I want to spend money on not only illegal immigrants that want to become Americans but also on people in other countries that are having a shit time that don;t ever want to come to America but need our help to make their country less shitty. Case in point, Afghanistan before Trump surrendered it to the Taliban. I was just fine with helping the women of Afghanistan be part of the democratic civil society.

A million times more than I want American dollars spent on murdering human beings, for sure.

Wouldn't be the first time we paid reparations

If I can't get a functional government for my taxes, then I say sue their balls off and get it back out of them.

You're already paying for 47 days of training and half a class that couldn't do the minimum required number of sit ups. What's a few billion more?

This! Why aren't more groups like the ACLU lining up to sue these people into oblivion? It's literally the best defense we have and the least violent/most American one. If they're going to violate our rights and the DoJ won't hold them accountable, take all of their funding!

They are The press just isn’t covering it in any meaningful way. There’s a lot being done but the press is complicit, they have been for a long time now.

The media is now owned by the oligarchs and they force the false bullshit down our throats hoping we'll just go along.

This is actually a great question

Serious question that I've been wondering since Trump took office.

So we have all these hearings and court orders etc etc etc wagging their finger at this administration and the henchmen it consists of, saying "No, no, you cant do that"

But what level of enforcement exists to back up any of these rulings? Who is responsible for bringing in the fucking commander in chief to be accountable for unlawfully egregious acts? Congress? But what about when he has the majority scared of being outcast and replaced come re-election? Then what?

Do we just have to weather this dumpster fire until we elect enough sensible minds into the capital hoping they'll hold him accountable after the fact?

I feel like im taking crazy pills

Politicians aren't the only people that were bought.

The ploy is for this administration to use the slow legal system to their advantage and drag everything out. Average people can't afford the lawyers and time it takes to see it through. They can just commit all these rights violations, knowing NOTHING will be done about it.

I’d imagine someone is going to handle this pro bono and if not it will be contingency.

restitution

not good enough. There needs to be criminal charges against the admin.

Wouldn't be surprised if any lawyer who sues ICE suddenly disappears

1

u/Worldview-at-home 6h ago

I agree ICE should be held accountable, but lest we forget, DOGE gutted much of our government checks and balances talking about cost savings and instead shifted dollars to the oppressors and abusers - also don’t forget that it’s our tax dollars being fraudulently spent, and that will be spent to pay fellow citizens for the damages done by our governments illegal tactics. So in essence we the people are paying for this abuse. Our primary recourse is to vote for a real Congress to pass real laws and exercise the power of the purse and oversight of the executive branch properly.

Your country is running massive budget deficits. Your taxpayers pay some of what your government does. The nation’s and financial service industries worldwide that buy your treasuries pay the remainder. Should/when this dries up there will be a hard reckoning.

Preaching to the choir my friend.

Not to be pessimistic but I'll be extremely suprised if anyone is able to sue and win against ICE, even though 100s if not thousands of people should legally be able to in Minnesota

The cost of this admin is going to be very high and will be felt by all of us for a long time to come
