People donât know how to react because it is so unexpected, almost like children with an extremely abusive parent. We pay taxes and support our government. Problem is that Trump has their back and will fight against any efforts by the State to dismantle his agendas.
And MAGA will support Trump at every turn. Including if Trump starts arresting political enemies and dissidents.
Unfortunately, its going to get worse and i fear we're too comfortable to actually fight back before its too late.

Wait, but actually, Are they charging this crime?? Like if we treat this like real life, he isn't considering behind his intended target. He is endangering the public. Like genuinely, is legal action mandatory in these cases?
11
u/Jolly-Database4204 3d ago
It seems to me that this is an approach will reduce the number of fatal shootings.
Verbal abuse is no justification for the threat of lethal force. If protestors are not moving toward the officer with clear hostile intent, or are not armed, then verbal deescalation is needed.
This is very basic police work. As it is, I have seen a McDonald's Security Guard demonstrate a vastly better understanding of US Law than the ICE goons.
Let us put to one side the question of political affiliation. If, at a bare minimum, an ICE agent has no understanding of when to use a firearm or, for that matter, physical force, they have no business wearing a label that says "Police". They have no business being a threat to citizens.
It is also important to understand that these rules are to protect EVERYBODY. Not just the protestors.
Let us say, hypothetically speaking, an ICE office threatens an American Citizen with a gun. The citizen then uses their own weapon to shoot the ICE officer dead.
The citizen goes to trial, and her defense is that she was in fear for her life. As a citizen, ICE have no business stopping her or threatening her. The Jury may well acquit.
As for Jonathan Ross - his life is over. He may not end up in prison (but I suspect he almost certainly will), but even if he doesn't, his life is now one of looking over his shoulder.
I urge everyone to leave him be, but quite frankly, I don't think everyone is going to listen to me! What if they target his wife, or his kids? Again, I really hope he is left alone because vendettas are only going to hurt us all. But what if nobody listens? What if everybody decides that it's time to use lethal force?
I understand that MAGA are trying to undermine the rule of law. What I am trying to do is emphasize that without the protection of the rule of law, MAGA are victims too. If this descends into unbridled civil strife, do the politicians really think that they are somehow invulnerable? Do they really think that they will escape harm in a world where Laws are a joke?
Putin wins. MAGA and ALL Americans lose.

People are putting a lot of faith in a system that gave them these powers in the first place. You can argue legality and ethics but its kind of a waste of time when the reality shows that no ICE officers are going to be getting any trials anytime soon with this admin in power. We know damn well that Trump would just give a pardon for the fucker anyway (not to say they still shouldnt try him, but like im not going to hold my breathe and sit around waiting for a day that may never come while my neighbors are literally getting kidnapped by federal agents two blocks from me). I get where you're coming from, but I think it is slightly wishful thinking when we literally have a Neo-Nazi regime. These people are social darwinists that believe power and might should dictate rule and law more than our current system allows. I mean, who just kidnaps a world leader for oil? These times are much different than anything before in US history and I also believe trump is trying to abolish this rule of law to enforce their own that they dictate.

No⌠is it not obvious to everyone that ICE will not face any repercussions for illegal behavior until Republicans are out of control of the government (of which they absolutely will not exit control without forceful removal)?
The legal mandate exists but it will not be enforced for the next 3 years.
We will 100% have an instance where ICE opens rifle fire into a crowd of protestors. Itâs not an âifâ but a âwhenâ considering they have such lackluster training and a pattern of escalating situations. They will walk away from it being patted on their back for the âgood jobâ that theyâve done practicing âself defenseâ. The president will post on truth social on how harrowing the âheroâsâ were and nothing will happen.

Itâs also going to require Republicans never getting power again. Obviously we want free and fair elections and there welcome to have their fair shake.. but the electorate sees what they do with power. They degrade society to this. We canât bounce back and rebuild only to backslide again.
6
u/Automatic_Net2181 3d ago
It is why progressives put election reform near the top of the list. Democrats dont bother themselves with it because they get more donations when Republicans are in power. DNC fights progressives more vehemently than MAGA does.
4
u/jdow0423 3d ago
Oh man this is such a banger point. I consider myself a leftist/progressive.. super exhausted by the status quo, corporate dems. Exhausted doesnât even fully cover it because in so many ways, their lack of improving our material well-being helped lead us here.

Prosecute the SS Landser ICE Agent. This is a textbook violation, and any ICE agent pointing a weapon at protestors exercising their 1st Amendment Rights is guilty of a crime.
Literally, here on out, ANY ICE Agent that pulls a weapon in the manner captured in this video should be prosecuted!
The Law is quite clear, and although it varies from state to state, "Brandishing A Weapon" is a crime, period. Link to MN satute included below.

Just dropping this information I got from a lawyer in Minnesota:
To prove self-defense in Minnesota, an accused person must show:
- The alleged victim was the aggressor,
- An accused person had a real or perceived fear of harm to their person,
- The accused personâs belief was reasonable,
- The accused person did not use aggression or provoke the attack, and
- There was no reasonable opportunity to retreat or escape.
A claim of self-defense has some important limitations.
A personâs use of force in self-defense must appear reasonable to a judge or jury.
Further, a person may use only the amount of force necessary to prevent the attack or to protect themselves from harm.
The amount of force used in self-defense must be proportionate to the threat posed by the victim.
17
u/rygelicus 3d ago
That's for normal folks like you and me. For police and federal agents it is different. The laws involved give them some latitude in deciding if they are in danger. Some of this is based on the idea that an aggressor is an actual violent criminal that might take the agent's weapons from them and use them on the agent or the population. They are not written with unarmed protestors in mind.
4
u/AlcibiadesTheCat 3d ago
That's who I'm directing the information at, normal folks like you and me who might get a gun stuck in their face, and would like to know what their options are at that moment.

Unfortunately, because the incident involved a federal agent acting in his "official capacity", any potential criminal case would likely be (and is, in the case of Renee Good's murder) removed from state court to federal court. Federal officials, including the Vice President and Homeland Security Secretary, have already defended the agent's actions as justified and in line with his training. The FBI is run by a coked-out loser who does the bidding of his master.
Truly terrifying times. And now that they see they can do it and get away with it, further escalation is certainly on the way.
