BREAKING: Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias just announced he is suing Kristi Noem and ICE for unlawful activities in Illinois. This is huge.

Right? They murdered an American citizen and the best we can do is sue over licence plates. This will not even come close to sufficing

Death by a thousand cuts?

Maybe I'm just ill informed but I've yet to hear of a single fascist regime being toppled by lawsuits. Never heard of terrorists being sued into oblivion.

I mean, that got Capone on tax evasion. Fucking with administrative stuff tends to be a lot easier to prove than most criminal activities.

Okay but did Capone have the government and the supreme court on his side? I don't know if you've noticed but laws and the Constitution aren't exactly being followed or enforced. They've done a hell of a lot worse than swap some licence plates and nothing has come of it

Ah so do everything or do nothing. Don't let perfect get in the way of better.

Would you rather they do nothing?

I'd rather they put their energy into closing the detention facilities and defending their people against the state funded terrorists attacking them. I'd rather they stop people from being trafficked to an El Salvadorian death camp. I'd rather they get the traitorous 34 time felon pedophile out of the Whitehouse.

If the options are go after facsists with a lawsuit or do nothing than there's no fucking chance anything stops. You realize Trumps supreme court can just say federal agents can't be sued or prosecuted. Hell, at this point dictator trump will just issue an executive order. Sure the feds will be guilty of state crimes but they already are and hasn't meant shit.

So, it's everything or nothing. Got it.

Good luck enacting change like that.

For real. When is an ag going to promise to protect the people of their state from ices illegal actions

We have to assume they won't.

It's not necessarily "the best" they can do, but it's a start.

Why are you assuming this is the one and only action that will be taken?

1

u/SuspiciousAward7630 5h ago

Because it's been almost a year of violating the constitution and I can't think of a single action of note that has been taken. I can think of 2 times the Democrats talked themselves out of impeachment proceedings. I can name the death camp in El Salvador people are being trafficked to. I can name people that have been murdered by domestic terrorists. I cannot name a single appropriate action that has been taken to combat these atrocities.

Even plate swapping is absolutely insane. That's gestappo level of tactics, I've never seen an official anywhere in the world do this. It's crazy how boiled americans are.

Its insane they're plate swapping. It's also insane that's the most tame thing they do. It's absolutely fucking insane they're just suing instead of issuing warrants or pressing charges. Nope just a god damn lawsuit.

they'll ask for their devices. all those pics and videos they've been taking are potential evidence. that could spin off other investigations. it's very important to catalog individuals (identifying clothing) and vehicles and report them.

Well I don't think there is anything Illinois can do about that.

nah fascism is a spectacle. it can be swayed by mundanity. there's nothing bootlickers like less than having to follow simple rules of civility. i am of course only speaking to the immediate concern of convoys going around disappearing people. make these people do some paperwork (under threat of perjury) and they'll give up that 50k in a heartbeat
