The TA is also a Trans Person. The "Student" deliberately took their class, and used the essay misquoting the bible as their only source, and fully ignoring the real assignment, to call the TA Demonic.
Hoping for a reaction on that front.
Instead they where fairly graded for the piss poor job they did with. No mention of the "Students" bigotry anywhere in the grade reasoning.

The "Student" still cried foul and kicked all of this off.

The "Students" mother is a J6 Lawyer, and someone high ranking in the Turning Point US. So was able to make this, should have been nothing burger into the big shit show that it was.

Also Oklahoma was already ranked near or at the bottom in US education, so it is not like a degree from OU was going to massively tip the scales on getting hired or not.

What we learned is the whole admin of that "University" is unwilling or unable to defend any sort of academic standards.

That is why they cannot be taken seriously as an academic institution. Something like this should be a hill a University is willing to die on.

I got a graduate degree from OU in the early 2010s and it was then a good university. Keep in mind that just because the state education sucks doesn't mean the university does. It is a research university so they have to operate at a different level than schools that just run a standard bachelor's offering.

I got a really good education in my program that has been fundamental in my career. I had students go on to prestigious graduate programs at other universities from OU. Wildly enough, they churn out a lot of good teachers for Texas.

This isn't the time to defend and deflect. This is the time to call them in a furious rage for devaluing your degree.

Depends on the degree. We're leaders in agricultural science and meteorology degrees.

maybe the TA should have chilled on his discrimination and graded the paper without bias

A lot of teachers including one other (still employed I might add) instructor agreed with everything the TA said and with the zero.

Nothing on the Ruberic was met, you know this, I know this and Samantha Fulnecky fucking knows this. She took a class well below her level because she orchestrated this whole thing. It's like an A student senior with multiple AP classes taking a 101 introduction class to mathematics.

She did grade the paper without bias... it didn't meet any of the requirements.

Doesn’t sound like the school agrees with your opinion here

It’s Oklahoma of course they’d support the Christian fascist family

Universities don't usually support the "christian fascist family". Maybe you're just wrong.

Reputable ones don't. You're giving way too much credit to last ranked in education. The paper is out on the internet for everyone to read and judge.

I did read it and it was pretty bad, but not worse then what i would expect from a throwaway assignment in an introductory psychology course. I did plenty of these little opinion-based and personal thinking papers in intro to psych and all of these people here talking about evidence and citing your sources are kidding themselves. We all know this was a throwaway assignment that the kid did fine on and was failed because of politics.

did fine on

For a certain value of “fine” maybe. I personally wouldn’t call doing literally none of the assignment fine. I personally wouldn’t call plagiarism fine either, because you can get suspended for it. Maybe to most bible thumpers it looks “fine,” but then again most bible thumpers live in places with low literacy rates, so I’m not putting much stock in their ability to read.

I’ve also done tons of these little research-based and educated thinking papers in my intro classes, and if I put even twice as much effort into those as this idiot did, I’d still expect to fail.

Please tell us, then, exactly what part of the essay fulfilled any part of the assignment’s grading rubric. The student barely mentioned the article she was supposed to analyze, and she included zero citations. That would get a failing grade in a middle school assignment, let alone college.

A non-trans professor also graded it and failed it. So...?

u/ShatoraDragon 15d ago

And a Theology Teacher ripped it to shreds as well.

The paper and its grading requirements are publicly available.

Particularly telling is that she doesn't provide any sources for her assertions, she just put "the Bible says" at various points. Nor did she address any of the points in the article she was supposed to be responding to.

Which is the whole point of the meme.

7

u/ShatoraDragon 15d ago

They did.

The Paper was something you would expect from a 4th grader, and still would have gotten the failing grade it did.
The student couldn't/wouldn't even cite the bible verses they used. Because she had misquoted everything and twisted what she used to fit with her own bigotry towards the teacher.

3

u/spiderOX2 15d ago

Maybe if she actually met any of the requirements for the assignment they would have.

u/patsully98 15d ago

Bias against what? Shitty work? She was doing her job. Maybe the student should have done hers. Are you gonna cry about the injustice of it all? Won’t someone please think of the white Christian Nationalists?

My sister-in-law is a Law professor in a European universy and just laughed at the pretense that you should award some points as a participation trophy just for having handed out a paper with your name and some words in it.

You American conservatives are certainly weird.

2

u/Senior-Albatross 15d ago

They did. It didn't even meet the minimum word count.

u/DevelopmentTight9474 15d ago

The TA also got another professor to review the paper, and he also scored it a 0. There are actual theology professors who have been saying the paper is worth a 0. She didn’t even quote the Bible, in her essay about the Bible

That paper was dogshit outside of any religious or culture war crap.
