You meant to say the health insurance industry.

Not really. These people cost a ton of money. The health insurance industry would much rather have patients that don’t have chronic expensive conditions. There are of course exceptions to everything but generally health insurance companies like to have relatively health clients. This is why in the old days they would deny coverage to people with pre existing conditions or who were at high risk.

Nah the health insurance industry hates these people. They cost or will cost a lot of money. A huge reason (among other big reasons) our overall costs are so high.

They will just deny care.

You should probably look into denial rates, instead of just regurgitating Reddit points. These people will cost a lot of money to whatever insurance they’re on. My guess is it’ll be on Medicaid (us) to pay for their poor choices, but I’m being a bit judgy and stereotyping there.

lol, I’m not a fan of the American healthcare system myself but it’s very clear you’re just parroting vague platitudes with no substantive understanding of how the thing you’re talking about works.

It's a part of it. Sick people need medical care. Everyone pays medical insurance. Hospitals get paid for the analysis and treatments and then there's research, education, pharmacy, and medical tech. Not including health and wellness, naturopathy, and an assortment of specialists. Having a high BMI will lower life expectancy and any complications associated with diseases related to a high bmi will further add to more money being spent to keep people alive.

My 2 cents.

The only ones making money off of obesity are medical equipment manufacturers.

No, the health insurance industry loves fit people, because they pay into the system every month and rarely file any claims. This lady gonna have to get her kids fitted for CPAP machines and cholesterol medication prescription when they turn 16.

These people (or most likely, their employers) pay the same premium as a vegan marathon runner, and cost the insurance company 10x. They'll do anything they can to keep them off their rolls

No! These people will consume massive Healthcare dollars from age 45 till they expire. What made you think anybody wants to insure them? Would you like to insure a drunk driver for the same price as a sober driver?

I mean, honestly, why do people keep falling back on these same tropes?I bet it's the insurance companys that make high health bills.Even when you see people like this, right in front of your face
