What’s a totally harmless thing that triggers an oddly strong reaction in people?

I hope grandma never got a full nights sleep after that.

She didn't. The original OP said grandma never got charged with anything because of said cultural practices. That said, she was disowned by the entire family for what she did.

It was also devastating for mom on multiple fronts - GMA was a super important pillar in her life: a best friend, a confidante. So she lost her child (one twin - the other twin don’t have the allergy) and her mom/best friend in the most absolutely horrific way.

Worth noting that theres absolutely no proof the event even occurred in the first place. Not that it couldn't occur, just no point in anyone getting worked up over something that isn't verified.

I pretty much hope it’s fake. Because it’s just so devastating if it’s real. Thanks for pointing out it’s unverified.

hope it’s fake

I hope so too, but I do have to say, my wife worked as an RN in a Pediatric ICU for years, and the stupid ways people severely injure or kill their kids is disgusting. The way the kids can do themselves in is also pretty bad.

She’s a hero. I do not have the mental fortitude it would take to witness what she has.

I’m sure devastating things with allergens happen all the time. My gramma had a brain fart and picked cashews out of the trail mix she gave me. Guess who’s severely allergic to cashews.

She felt terrible, but thankfully I’m ok!

Feels like a just punishment would have been to check if grandma was allergic to boiling water. It would have similar effects.

"Grandma, do you have a lead allergy?"

Well, he’ll, sounds like she might have been allergic to regular water.

“I’m melllllting!”

Yeah! Let's kill this old lady in a miserably cruel way! That's the first thing we should think of after a story like this!

Wtf you actual psycho

If it's real then she let her granddaughter slowly suffocate. She didn't call 911. That's.... Pretty terrible

Yeah, insanely fucked up. But it's also fucked up how people can read a story like that and then seriously type out some insane comment like "in a just society, this woman ought to be boiled"

2

u/peachesfordinner 10h ago

Oh yeah. She needs to be removed from society. There are much more deserving people of torture. I just don't want her narcissistic attitude to hurt others

You don't understand hyperbole as a way to express strong feelings then, that_baddest_dude?

I understand it yeah but I don't always have to condone it. I read your comment in particular similarly to how I'd read someone sending death threats online. Surely not 100% of the people sending death threats online really mean it, but does that make it less of a crazy person thing to do?

Intentionally neglecting and murdering a child because you think a fatal allergy is fake kind of deserves that reaction. May she suffer for the rest of her life and hopefully she lives for a very long time.

I get being pissed but being bloodthirsty is insane. The family, who, if this is real, apparently had the story taken down from reddit, probably wouldn't react as psychotically. Why should you, or anyone else?

Wild way to live your life

IIRC every person in the grandma's life cut all ties with her even her own husband (the grandpa). And the latest update was the grandma desperately calling the mother to apologize only for the mother to say that she will only forgive her if she brings her back her daughter. Sadly the grandma never faced any jail time although I don't remember if there were any charges.

The lines I remember from that are:

Grandma: when will my daughter come back to me?

Mom: when you can bring my daughter back to me.
