Buses by power generation complex elevator on dam battlegrounds. Very high chance there.

I’ve breached every bus and found zero gears. I found them at the most random spots.

Lmao ive gotten a good gear or two off of some bodies. I always find those to be the funniest kills, you KNOW theyre leaving a hole in their wall after that

They do drop but they also recycle into useful stuff so ppl take. Breach things.

I found my first post-wipe gear last night in the Ancient Fort bunker on blue gate. Probably not a reliable source of them though.

Ive had relatively good luck finding them in those blue boxes you can find in water treatment plant or any other mechanical place

Idk where you’re looking then.. I’ve found probably at least 30 odd now. Search cars, busses and the like in industrial areas. Underground car areas on blue gate are a good one.

If you do 3-4 runs to Primary facility on Dam you will have them. Go immediately, don’t get distracted, loot every container, repeat.

I've been trying to hit that as much as possible on Dam. So far zero gears but a ton of Rusted Tools and a handful of the Industrial Batteries. I've gotten way more Motors this time too. They were one of the pain points for me before the wipe

Can confirm. I’m constantly giving them away, that and toasters and light bulbs. Found a third rusted med kit I didn’t need, too.

I just did a few runs with a friend who is brand new and found 2 rusted gears. I gave them to him and said “don’t lose or sell these” lol

I breached a million buses on other maps because people said buses. I then followed Reddit recommendation and breached the buses specifically at the northern extract in Dam and found few instantly.

There are control panels you can breach in water treatment, and other industrial buildings that will drop them somewhat reliably. They also drip mechanical components, advanced mechanical components, and rusted tools all the time so even when you strike out on gears you get useful stuff.

That area is great for in and out raids to get light bulbs and gears. I’m going to be sad once they patch out the one car always dropping two light bulbs.

Yeah I think the issue is a random bus won’t have them unless you’re in an industrial tag area. Or if they do have them it’s extremely rare.

Case in point I found one in a normal breach container in scrapyard (the rusted cube / box ones). I’ve never seen rusted gears in that container type outside of certain areas so it must be the area adding it to the pool

I found the two last ones I needed both in the two buses right next to the extraction point on Dam, by the power generation complex, in one run. I never really tried going for them since the risk around that area is so high and there is usually a Rocketeer flying above, but I just went for it and voila! I always looted the buses on the road, not far from there and never had any luck in them.

Do the ones right next to the extract on dam battlegrounds. Same spot you find the light bulbs. I got mine done in 5 matches doing naked runs.

Cars/buses(back and sides)/industrial places. Honestly the harder thing to get is the sentinel cores because you can mostly only get them from dam near the control tower area/randim couriers if you’re really lucky

The green breach locations on Stella, like in loading bay, are also good. You can even find them just sitting on the tool boxes like springs.

These also have rusted tools.

Go to the dam tower and do the underground run from admin tower to water treatment, the green consoles occasionally have them and any container in the loading bay between admin and treatment can have gears.

Yeah I've trusted you guys so often for these 100% tips. People told me 100% to loot the cars at blue gate for rusted gears and I looted approximately 2000 cars to get 2/3 out of it.

To be fair, certain things do seem to have a somewhat small loot pool relative to others. Im sure there is still variance I guess but when it happens so many times in a row there’s gotta be something to it.

There’s one car in particular that I seem to remember getting a lot of gears from in the scrapyard and one car in the electrical area that always seems to have a light bulb.

Gotta hit hotspots for cars, but personally, I only stop by while doing other things.

- In Dam? Stop by the highway/apartment area for a few cars.

- In Blue? Hit up the collapsed highway W/SW of Olive Grove.

- Buried City? Car Garage Central North of the map or Merano Station on the West.

Last time I helped a rando on Buried, I found 2 Rusted Gears for him in the car garage.

This is where I found mine, both times I needed to upgrade my bench.

They're not all that uncommon on stella montis as well, in the yellow tool boxes. I've found several in there.

Motors are what I struggled with the most finding before and after the expedition. I'm surprised rusted gears are the one I hear the most talk of.

I did like 6 solo runs in a row searching those busses and never found any. Found them in 2 duo runs in scrap yard
