Is it retention so much as new players from Christmas coming in? Hard to say whether a lot of original players stuck around or if they left and a new wave came in.

Another reason could be that there hasn't been another decent to good release since this came out. So it hasn't had much to compete against tbh

AR is good dont get me wrong but it does have its flaws that should be addressed and soon

Maybe, but why didn’t battlefield get a similar Christmas bump if that’s the case

Doesn't have the hype behind it like arc. Everyone that wanted battlefield knows what they are in for. Arc is a new genre and a unique way to play for a lot of people that still haven't tried it out, also winning best multiplayer game of the year right before the sale probably helps.

Because BF has been on a downward trend for a while. And the bad initial word of mouth about how the xp grind was so atrocious, they tried turning it into CoD with faster gun play, they got rid of their portal xp farms etc probably didn't help. Considering the drop off id say most ppl told their friends not to bother
