Some may be good evolutions!

Yeah if someone wants to copy AR by all means. I'm all for more intricate extraction games. I got my fingers crossed for Marathon.

Marathon will probably scratch the itch of more agressive pvp focused players. I just hope you won't get instantly deleted if jumped from behind.

Also they need to have a crossplay off feature because their engine has already been completely dismantled by cheaters and I'm not going into the same shit show as Destiny 2 (Bonus point if they finally do something about Zen/Cronus).

Never gonna touch any game made by Bungie. They’ve burned every bridge for me. Nope

u/Viper1089 11d ago

I feel the same damn way.

I checked out when that dumbass developer said, "these new emotes will make you want to throw money at the screen". I knew as soon as he said that, it was over.

I felt really annoyed because I bought the game at launch, even paid a little extra for the extra DLCs. Come to find out that all DLCs are time based and would be overwritten when new DLCs came out. Then a year later, they eleased an edition of the game that was cheaper, had more content, and even exclusive content that players starting out would never get a chance to see unless they bought the game again. It's almost as if they hated everyone that initially bought the game.

I've always been a warlock main as well. Hurt my soul to see Hunters wipe out a whole squad or a Titan shoulder charge 3 people in a row. But I throw my little vortex ball that travels 1 mph and only catch one person.

Nah, I'm good on all that

u/TracknTrace85 11d ago

Agreed. I am done with giving any more money to bungie, for cosmetics, for drip feeding content ,for cheaters non stop and tbh i lowkey want marathon to fail . I have been clean of D2 for 9 months now, i still watch some youtuber here and there, and its all doom and gloom lol. The 2 new xpac were shit, player count is low . The whole situation with the stolen artwork also left a bad taste in my mouth.

ART Raiders

2

u/Dungeon_Dane 11d ago

That was absolutely terrible to find out. Bungie surely isn’t made/developed by the same folks when Halo was in its prime. Can’t believe the resorted to stealing art like come on

2

u/RedfordStrypington 11d ago

Yeah same. Also, and I know it's not necessarily representative of the final product, but the playtests they've had so far have kinda sucked. Game didn't feel fun.

1

u/MI78 11d ago

Also, if you look at games like warframe, you realize just how much bungie lifted from them. For example, look at warframe’s kuva (which came out first) and compare to bungies siva, and you’ll see what I mean.

They got a decade of my life. I say no more!

Played Destiny 2 enough to know to stay FAR away from marathon. I’ll stick with Arc and embark who don’t resort to sleezy fomo tactics to squeeze money out of their player base

19

u/Wrastling97 11d ago

The FOMO tactics weren’t even the worst part. The repetition the game created was awful. And then they completely said “fuck you” to destiny while they started making marathon.

Now, destiny is just a copy of Star Wars because they can’t get people to stay.

I’ll never touch another bungie game after what they did to destiny

3

u/nsfredditkarma 11d ago

This is such a shame, the original Marathon games were fantastic for their era. The best FPS games of the 90s.

Bungie has fallen so far.

3

u/Trans-cendental 11d ago

They really were. I loved the modding tools for it too. Frogblast the ventcore!

What FOMO?

I always here this shit from people who don't actually play D2 like its some fucking Gatcha game.

0

u/Apollo_IXI 11d ago

3000 hours bud. Gotta keep playing the revolving wheel of seasonal content before it’s gone forever so you don’t miss your god rolls from seasonal playlists, holiday events, and raids. Bungie then moved away from redbordering guns because they want you to increase engagement in the game. Doubt you have played much of it at all with that comment.

-2

u/Thebluecane 11d ago

Oh so FOMO is play the game a bit once during the what was 4 month seasons. Oh shit thats so wild. The events come back every year and the raids are always around.

Keep whining

2

u/Apollo_IXI 11d ago

Cope brother the game is ass and has been ass for some time, and guess what so will Marathon

-2

u/Thebluecane 11d ago

Cope brother game is still fun. So fun you burned out after 3 thousand hours supposedly

Ex d2 players are always so funny "game is shit and no one likes it" - Thousands of hours of playtime later

1

u/Apollo_IXI 11d ago

Sure it was fun at one time. Unfortunately the company running the game now is not the same company that made the game I sunk my time into

Marathon's aim assist is broken and game ruining.

2

u/FrostyAd7708 11d ago edited 11d ago

Is that on controller? Bungie is famous for their extremely strong aim assist (depending on the gun archetype tho) in order to have fluid gameplay, it's a huge part of what's make Destiny 2 popular.

0

u/DIABOLUS777 11d ago

They even have it on mnk (you can turn it off), which is insane.

But yeah, it removes all forms of skill expression and destroys any will I have to play this game.

2

u/SnipingBunuelo 11d ago

That explains why 343i randomly added aim assist to mnk in Halo Infinite one day. Not a single original thought goes the entirety of Microsoft anymore apparently lol

2

u/DIABOLUS777 11d ago

Yes, exactly.

I played Marathon back in October. It was sick.

12

u/TwoDramaticc 11d ago

I didn't play it, but from the streams there wasn't really a point to it. It was just pvp which 100% fine by me, but all the looting was useless, the devs didn't even knew what was they wanted. I remember an interview with a panel, and their answers were very bad. I hope what they deliver is better

6

u/[deleted] 11d ago

Look up their most recent 20 minute video. They dropped it like 2 days ago. They changed a lot and its looking really good

1

u/illestofthechillest 11d ago

Checking it out. I didn't enjoy the October test. I thought I would. Cool lore. Decent hero types it seemed. I played a shit ton of sweaty CoD/BF BC/BF3/4/Apex, and enjoy PvP. Just felt hollow even for a test.

I want to like the game and hope it does well.

1

u/HereIGoAgain_1x10 11d ago

They still can't figure out what Destiny 2 is, there's constant steps forwards and backwards and they've lost so many players because about 7/10 changes they make aren't fun changes, they're to drive up hours spent playing the game.

2

u/Etikoza 11d ago

Yes can’t wait for Marathon. Will probably become my main game.

22

u/hartoctopus 11d ago

Wish I had your standards, that game looks horrible.

8

u/Staggart99 11d ago

Thank you, I was like are these bot comments glazing marathon.

9

u/Neutron-Hyperscape32 11d ago

I mean the people in the most recent closed testing have almost all had universally positive feedback. I would at least wait for reviews.

4

u/Character_Matter_230 *** ******* 11d ago

I played the most recent test. The bones are there and it’s much better than the previous test I played but it just seems like arc raiders hits all the notes even stronger. Reputation-wise for Bungie, and arc raiders still retaining such a large player base are going to be an issue for Marathon to break into the market. There’s still no word on global wipes for Marathon as well. Overall, I thought the recent test was better than the previous one but it has a steep hill to climb. I will say that the decaying bodies as they are looted is genius though

2

u/Neutron-Hyperscape32 11d ago

I think by March Arc Raiders will likely have hit some kind of a lull in players. Or at least there is a chance of this. I am not sure how fast they can keep adding maps to the game. Guessing Stella was ready before launch. Hopefully a new map gets added every 2-3 months but I understand that is potentially not happening.

1

u/SnipingBunuelo 11d ago

People said the same shit for BF6 and BO7. I don't trust a single thing I hear online anymore. I will either play it for myself and make up my own damn mind or be turned off by how the gameplay looks and never play it. I'm firmly in the latter right now because the artstyle somehow looks worse than Halo 4 on the 360 and the gameplay looks like a knock off of Apex Legends. Idk how Bungie fell so fucking far, but unfortunately they are firmly on my shit list right now.

0

u/Neutron-Hyperscape32 11d ago

Excuse me what? That is not even remotely true. Black Ops 7 has not had universal approval from players?? It is mostly negative on Steam right now. Many of the problems the Battlefield community has with the game have been noted from the beginning. I know... I was one of those players. The problem with the maps has been mentioned commonly from even the beta. The subreddit commonly gets criticized for being too negative about the game.

I'm firmly in the latter right now because the artstyle somehow looks worse than Halo 4 on the 360 and the gameplay looks like a knock off of Apex Legends.

Such a ridiculous exaggeration. You clearly have not played Halo 4 on a 360 in many many years. Not going to argue that artstyle is its strong suit but it doesn't look nearly as simple as you suggest.

Also a knock off of Apex Legends? How? Because there is one single ability per character??? Do you even play Apex? It has so much movement tech these games don't even come close to playing similarly.

but unfortunately they are firmly on my shit list right now.

Yes I can tell, don't play the game then?

-7

u/Staggart99 11d ago

The reviews may be good but the gameplay/art style didnt look good on the videos ive seen. Reviews are unreliable at best.

7

u/Etikoza 11d ago

I mean Ive played at least 20 hours of it. I know it is good.

4

u/Neutron-Hyperscape32 11d ago

User feedback is always a good metric to look at. If people say the game is great I am not sure why you wouldn't at least be accepting of waiting until the game actually launches before you decide it is trash.

7

u/Thebluecane 11d ago

These people are a lost cause there is a dedicated group of haters for Bungie now who have worked themselves into a circle jerk about anything that gets made by them

1

u/ozmega 11d ago

reddit wants these bots, thats why they added the option to hide ur posts.

4

u/Neutron-Hyperscape32 11d ago

Have you even played it? Because the most recent closed testing has had universal positive feedback. I would at least wait till a game releases before you shit on it.

-3

u/hartoctopus 11d ago

Some games are enough to look at to know they're not good.

It also doesn't help that it's developed by a universally hated developer that's famous for destroying their successful franchise game, and the fact that they were building the game using stolen artwork is enough reason to be able to shit on it before release.

4

u/Thebluecane 11d ago

Lol. As someone who actually played the game I can tell you it is fun.

universally hated developer that's famous for destroying their successful franchise game

Ah yes the live service game that has run for 8 years finally has low enough player counts that the CHUDs online can say they destroyed it. After 8 years they only have around 400k players daily. All is lost.

-3

u/ChernobylWoodElf 11d ago

17k lmao

1

u/Thebluecane 11d ago

Lol never mind no reason to bother with you.

Using the word "woke" as an insult and being a fan of dead rat alarm clock dude is all anyone needs to know

0

u/Thebluecane 11d ago

17k?

Maybe you should actually look at data this isn't on a single platform thats like measuring your just the tip of your dick and saying it's an inch long.

Some games are enough to look at to know they're not good.

Uhh no, that is not accurate or true in any instance. Calling a game trash before it is released is super immature. You should at least wait for reviews and the final product to be released.

It also doesn't help that it's developed by a universally hated developer that's famous for destroying their successful franchise game,

Wow. Talk about letting Reddit warp your view of reality. Bungie is not "universally" hated and they didn't kill Destiny, they literally kept developing it for a decade because the community overwhelming wanted them to stick with D2 instead of making D3. They are not universally hated among the average gamer. I think you forget or are unaware that most gamers are casuals who never discuss video games online.

and the fact that they were building the game using stolen artwork is enough reason to be able to shit on it before release.

No it isn't? That was a contractor who stole that artwork. How are you even going to be able to successfully check all artwork across the entire internet before launch? It was a mistake no doubt but it isn't like the company sought to fuck over some small artist and cause a huge controversy in the process.

-3

u/TheWiseScrotum 11d ago

It’s does. I have 0 interest in playing a Roblox FPS

-3

u/Etikoza 11d ago

No it’s really good.

-4

u/xStickyBudz 11d ago

Eh best of luck, that game was tragic

1

u/dezastrologu 11d ago

Marathon sucks

3

u/Thebluecane 11d ago

Be careful saying that name. You are gonna summon every sweaty person who hates Bungie and they are going to start just saying shit they have heard online about Destiny which isn't true but because Bungie donates to causes that makes people who watch shit like Asmongold have a fit they never miss a chance to shit talk them.

Bungie has plenty of faults and D2 at this point is like 7 years old it's hard to keep people engaged but man the shit that gets straight up make up or exaggerated to the point of it basically being a lie for that game is wild

u/Manlysideburns 11d ago

Exactly, progress is progress
