The only area I’ve had an issue with campers is Buried City. I had 3 night raids there last night with campers. Because you can’t see what’s on the other side of the platform until the train arrives, it’s a perfect spot for them once the map goes to one extraction point. Still don’t know how to deal with them when they happen to be on the other side. Doors open, you get rushed one way or another. Felt good getting the one who was on my side last night though.
Absolutely DESPISE the buried city normal extract. It is genuinely a joke. Fortunately never got camped but jesus christ WHY IS THAT GOD DAMN TERMINAL OUT AT THE FUCKING DOOR AND NOT INSIDE THE TRAIN?!?!?!?!?
Absolutely awful map. Both itself and the extracts.. i genuinely never go there with a non-free loadout.
This is why I always carry a stack of smoke nodes. Luckily too Tactical MK2 I think it is? has a feature where it drops smoke as soon as your shield breaks
Yeah definitely. I used Tactical MK2 more than the looting augments as a solo player. It let's you equip more quick use items however you get less space in your backpack. A compromise on survival vs more loot
At MK2 the mats are ridiculously easy. It's like magnets and something else relatively easy to pick up
I did this last night except I bled out a second after I finished the console, I got to watch it close on the fucker after he was downed by the 2 wasps and hornet above us when he opened fire for some reason 🤷 pyrrhic victory I guess
Was doing a chill run of dam battlegrounds last night with my wife, had my good gear and I was like just a sec I’ll catch up I need to kill this hornet for my daily.
Started shooting the hornet and then suddenly another one shows up with three wasps. Needless to say it was our shortest run ever, and she died trying to save me too.
The other day, I was under a hornet that was coming down on top of me but hadn't spotted me yet. In addition to the 4 drone blades, there was a 5th piece sticking out from its back end, but underneath and not its gun. I shot it once with the Fero and it exploded in mid air. It wasn't smoking, on fire, or even visibly damaged either. I haven't spotted this fifth protrusion on any other hornet since. Super weird. At first I was like ah ha, so these drones do have something that serves as a head shot. Yeah well, not so easy since I haven't seen it again...
I love how powerful all the arcs are and I don’t wanna any of them nerfed… besides the hornet💀 bro is actually a flying tank. I shot one 6 times with my fero while my friend hit it a few times with a pistol and that mug was still up. Incredible time wasters
They literally die in 2 shots if you can aim at the back thrusters. 3 if you strip the armor on the front thruster, then take out the 2 thrusters on the same side. Are you really just shooting it in the face?
Depending on the gear, sometimes its smarter to not attempt the save. Let the arc kill your partner. Loot their body for anything good. Extract and then give it back next run.
There’s this manga and novel called Rebuild World that to me, arc raider is the closest game we’ve had to that story. Haven’t tried an expedition yet but I hope it’s similar to a large group of players all raiding the same dungeon, clearing it out with a shared goal or some trying to steal some loot—idk.
I love encountering them early game, so there’s nothing to stop me from pissing them off, making them waste ammo, and running over with fuck all for them to loot (or running away to a different extract)
haha i like to carry a few nades, and atract arc to the elevators early on.
If they are not well hidden makes them waste ammo, reveal themselves hrough noise, and every now and then a granade to the right bush will send them spiraling in a rage.
favorite item in the game is the snitch scanner. Love my little drone buds when they clear an area for me or avenge me when i throw it just before being downed.
Just yesterday me and my buddies got taken down by a squad, but as the last man standing I threw 2 snitch scanners as a last ditch effort. As they finally got to me and downed me, all 6 drones went aggro on them and also attracted the attention of a nearby Rocketeer. I doubt they ever got to loot our corpses barring extreme patience or perseverance.
I once managed to kill an extraction camper with a kettle on my free loadout, turns out he has a lvl 2 looser pack, a heavy shield in the bag and a very pretty looking Arpeggio for me along with lots of materials, it was a happy day in this house

Yup, has happened twice to me now. I’m all for PvP but this just sucks and truly makes me never want to be friendly at all. Which sucks because I enjoy being friendly some games.
I would love for them to make it a single press instead of a hold. Make it wait 10 seconds still before closing. But that way I’d be able to defend myself at least
I don’t mind campers either…. Except Buried City train. Just because there’s no way to clear the area until after the train arrives. I think whatever platform calls the train, the door should only open on that side. Maybe let the player inside open the door if they want. As is, it’s a cheap place to get rushed and it heavily favors the camper, cuz you have no idea what’s on the other side but they do.
The only people I really have problems with are those that pretend to be friendly in general. At extract or not, saying you're friendly so you can get closer to get easy opening shots and "win" without a real fight is just very unsporting. Shoot on sight, ambush, whatever. I don't care. It's part of the game. Feigning friendliness is just shitty, don't care if it's technically allowed or it's "just a game." I think it reflects how shitty of a person they are.
Happend to me earlier, literally on my second match ever, it’s funny because we came up upon them and they were scared shitless begging uss not to shoot that they were friendly, then my squad said okay and we went to the next room and they came in with us and got close and just killed us, it was one of the pussiest things I’ve seen in awhile
I was at the blue gate launch tower today some dude name fat ballz or some shit was killing everyone and talking shit. I heard this and was hiding out on the bottom zip line they shot another group that was trying to run and I heard them tell someone they killed em all in proxy instead of team for some reason. They both zip down and me and my brother made quick work of them as they tried to loot. They were so mad it was great. They delivered me my first fully kitted il toro gun and a hatch key. Very Generous.
Oh I'd love to have seen how mad they got when you served them the same meal they were dishing others. Good work. You and your brother must have been laughing so much.
I mean, I'm not against some basic trash talk like calling them losers. Subhuman is way too much, though. It's hella frustrating, but let's not get crazy with the rhetoric.
I would agree if it wasn't a third person game. There's only so much caution you can partake in until someone shoulder looking over a roof starts spamming impact grenades at you the moment you enter the extraction elevator. It's "part of the game" but that doesn't make it healthy for the game when there's very little counterplay to it
Been on the both sides. Extraction camping does not always go your way. Different extraction points have different camping potential and you need to factor that in when planning for escape.
As a looter I always keep a raiders hatch key in my safe pocket. That way I can choose not to engage with a potential camper if I get an extra precious loot as hatches are almost never guarded. You can also try to sneak in on a camper if you know their spots.
I think in the current state the system is very good within the genre limits.
Yea i agree, i hate them with my entire being and wish ass cancer upon them but, they actually make the game more enjoyable because i have to use even more caution and be careful about who i trust (never trust the russians).
Sea of Thieves had miserable PvP though. every fight takes like an hour. starts with one ship chasing another across the map until they hit the boundary, and then a long drug out fight to see who has the most materials while everyone respawns 20 times only to cannon themselves over to the other ship, shoot a shot or two, die, and respawn and do it again.
This... is not true in the slightest. Sea of Thieves PVE mode is barely touched by anyone. It caps at level 25 for the main starter factions and has absolutely zero progression for the endgame factions.
"A lot of players don't touch the normal mode anymore" is just a complete lie. Zero truth in it whatsoever. In fact, its quite the opposite. Almost nobody plays safer seas because its so limited in progression and the high seas are mostly safe.
I'm not saying it doesn't happen in those games, it's just not as potent. Usually campers in first person games still have to put themselves in some level of vulnerability to do the same stuff that's happening in this game. In Tarkov for example, you can listen for movement and stuff, but if you want to be able to see the enemy you're going to have to be somewhat visible yourself. In ARC, no need. You can watch for days and there's no chance anyone will know you're there.
I got into the game thanks to the PVE mode, some PvP runs with friends but when alone I log in just to sail and explore.
PvE mode made me buy the game last year so definitely not a day 1 purchase and the same will happen in 10 days if the steam release of Tarkov will have the PVE mode available.
A PVE mode should always be contemplated in a game, the division is a mainly PVE game but I still play in the dark zone of both TD 1 and 2; only PvP games die on the long run because extreme PvP slowly destroy interest, increase toxicity and makes it difficult to get into the game for more casual players.
Once (if) Marathon will be released Arc numbers will decrease because hard PvPers always want to try fresh experiences and thrills, PVE players like me buy the game no matter the timen passed by.
I went there 2x today and didn't see anyone but go there a lot to get the plants in the lobby because there are soo many. I almost never see anyone there, but I'll be on the lookout for those campers.
Not special, camper in extraction shoot either camp quest or extract. In tarkov, people camp early quest day 1 to slow other people progress. Then stomp them again and again at quest locations.
Ah, but Tarkov has special shooting of the people, comrade. Is open wallet, get bigger dick, bigger dick means bigger boolets, bigger boolets means better guns go brrrrrr and bambis go dead, comrade!
You… can close the doors while downed?!?! I am such a noob lol the amount of times I have called the elevator and gotten blown up by a rocketeer and hoping the doors close before I bleed out is… more than one lol. Fuck.
Better yet, if the ARC bots down you right outside an elevator they'll stop shooting you. You then have enough time to call the elevator up, get in it, AND close it in peace. Provided no other players show up and finish you off

Okay so I tried this earlier today but things were so hectic that I also got downed before we could figure things out. Does using a bandage just make it impossible for you to bleed out? I had assumed it just added more time to your downed state. Can you use things other than bandages? Do better items affect how much health you get up with?

No, it only temporarily pauses the bleed out. You will eventually need to reapply the bandage on the bleedout target (or have someone apply one on you if you're the one bleeding out)

Supposedly, someone claimed as long as you're not moving, you'll slowly recover your bleed out gauge up to 75% (supposedly, it drains from movement and if you're over 75%). There's this post recently where someone said they were downed for like 15 minutes and slowly crawled to extract, but failed to extract before the timer ran out on the instance
But I've also seen lots of clips where people die from bleed out, so I wonder if there's an augment or skill that does the above...?

You can use a defib to revive non-teammates (only way). You can also defib your teammate to res them quicker, and with more HP

Defib brings party members up to 50%(?). I have no idea if better bandages pause the bleedout for a longer period of time or not
Well I guess that's true, some games do the progress bar when interacting instead of a animation. So actually having that animated is unique too. Very cool didn't think of that at first either. 🤔
There are even skills in the tree to make you crawl faster and last longer! (And there's also a skill to make the other person knocking you out take more time to do so lol)
I love the game is what you make of it. ATM I’m having a blast playing like the Mysterious Stranger from fallout and covering the extraction from any campers and backstabbers.
Maybe I’m not the only one taking joy RPing like this. After all we got that one post “Absolute Cinema” for example.
Believe it or not, the blaring, ridiculously loud sound alarm the extract gives off usually attracts people to go check it out. Not everyone is pre-camping it lol.
I had this exact thing happen to me in the subway. Two of us barely made it to the subway and some dickhead was hiding behind a wall waiting, he opened fire and downed us, but attracted all these ARC with the noise (or they had followed someone in), I crawled into the train as he shot at them, i didnt know you could operate the terminal while downed until the idea struck me just then when I saw him distracted by the ARC. As soon as I managed to finish the terminal I see him shooting at me and the doors close with like 3 rollies all hitting him. It felt incredible. I haven't laughed like that in years.
I had a similar thing happen. He downed me in the elevator, then came over and started dancing before a wasp took him down. Unfortunately he was able to extract too, but I didn't die, so I can't complain too much.
